Enjoy your private vehicle transfer from Hoedspruit Airport to Garonga in Kruger. The approximate travel time is 1.5 hours.

This afternoon you'll meet up with other guests at the lodge and embark on your afternoon game drive. Sunrise and sunset are when the animals are most active. Kruger is one of the largest game reserves in Africa, and was named the first National Park of South Africa in 1926. Spanning across the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, Kruger covers nearly 2 million hectares of land. You'll be out in the reserve for a few hours before returning back to the lodge to freshen up for dinner.

Accommodation: Garonga Safari Camp

Garonga Safari Camp is an exclusive 12 bed camp in the 22,000 hectare greater Makalali Conservancy, situated west of the Kruger National Park. The accommodation reflects the surroundings of the bush's textured earthy colours. Clean lines have been incorporated with fine linen to ensure pure comfort and tempting place to lie and meditate for hours. Garonga's holistic philosophy is to offer a safari for the soul, an unhurried and intimate wildlife encounter, a time to reflect and find inspiration in nature. You can either try your hand at every activity offered, or you can simply do nothing at all, lazing in a hammock with a good book while watching the grazing impala.

Day 5: Kruger

Before first light you'll meet up with other guests at the lodge and embark on your early morning game drive. Enjoy the tranquility of a beautiful sunrise over the unspoiled bush. Many species are still active in the early morning before the heat of the day sets in. With any luck you’ll spot some of the resident predators enjoying the spoils from their hunt the night before. You'll be out in the reserve for a few hours before returning back to the lodge for breakfast.

After lunch you will continue your day with an afternoon game drive. Late afternoon is another productive time for game viewing as the day begins to cool, ensuring further animal movement. Watch as a massive, lumbering hippo emerges from the water to snack on nearby grasses. Observe the predators begin their nightly hunt as grazers peacefully occupy the plains. You’ll be out on the reserve for a few hours before returning to the lodge to refresh before dinner.

Day 6: Kruger

One of the more productive times to enjoy game viewing is first thing in the morning before the heat of the day kicks in. Kruger is home to the fastest mammal on earth – the Cheetah. Cheetahs are solitary creatures that hunt early in the morning, late in the afternoon and even at night when the moon is full. After a few hours of early morning game viewing, you will head back to your lodge for breakfast.

The night drives allow you the opportunity to see the nocturnal animals not encountered during the day. You'll share the drives with other guests from the lodge. The night drives are part of the afternoon game drive, as dusk falls. Your chances of seeing leopard in particular are a lot higher at night and with a bit of luck you might even encounter the predators such as lion and leopard hunting. During the night drives, your tracker uses a powerful spotlight to search for nocturnal animals. Expect to see a wide variety of animals not normally seen during the day, including leopards, hyenas, aardvarks, bat-eared fox, porcupines, bush babies, bushbucks, mongoose, genet cats and nocturnal birds like owls and nightjars.

  • Janet M. — June 15, 2016 — Africa

My experience with Kensington Tours for my Safari was the best planned trip I have ever taken. The coordination, experience and knowledge of personnel during our visits excelled. I had high expectations but it exceeded all my thoughts!

  • Padma P. — June 15, 2016 — Africa

We were very happy with all the arrangements that were made for us. We will always use you for all our future trips.

  • Eve T. — June 15, 2016 — Africa

We cannot emphasize enough how amazing our guide was, both in personality and knowledge, and how much he added to our trip. We truly enjoyed spending time with him, which is a very good thing since much of that time included some very long car rides! We also loved how most accommodations had so much personality and life to them. We much prefer unique smaller accommodations that almost feel hand-crafted over a more standard experience you can get almost anywhere.

  • Beth N. — June 15, 2016 — Africa

THE TOUR WAS EXTREMELY WELL ORGANIZED. VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE GUIDES. Customer service throughout out South Africa was awesome!

  • Toni L. — June 15, 2016 — Africa

Truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life's travels! Kensington guides were extremely knowledgeable and personable. I could only address them as guides for a few hours as they quickly became my friends. You customize every aspect of my trip to Rwanda and Tanzania to my liking. I could not have asked for more. Grateful for the professionalism and attention to detail as I traveled by myself as a female, always feeling safe. I wish I could find the words for accolades that adequately describe my journey.

  • Joel G. — June 08, 2016 — Africa

Our guide, Fidelis was phenomenal. Not only a skilled tracker but a walking encyclopedia of history, geology, geography, animal behavior etc. Marc, our trip planner, was patient, understanding and pro-active in suggesting trip elements that he felt would meet our needs. Fantastic.

  • Nikhita D. — June 08, 2016 — Africa

Our guide Steve was absolutely amazing. Have highly recommended the trip to many family and friends

  • David C. — May 19, 2016 — Africa

  • George L. — May 19, 2016 — Africa

The service at Kanana Camp was outstanding, in fact the best I've received anywhere. What a wonderful group of warm, friendly and helpful people. Staff at Islands of Siankoba, Ngoma Safari Lodge, and Kirkman's Kamp were all excellent.
