As the sun sets behind the distant Drakensberg Mountains and darkness descends, the Kapama Private Game Reserve comes alive with a wild symphony of nocturnal calls.
You’ll experience this from the safety of your safari vehicle as an experienced tracker expertly scans the landscape with his spotlight in search of nocturnal prowlers on an exciting night safari. You’ll also spot the animals who roam the savannah by day on several private game drives in the Kapama Private Game Reserve, Timbavati Game Reserve and Sabi Sand Private Reserve as skilled rangers provide an extensive safari experience. The most prized sighting, however, is the rare and elusive white lions of Timbavati that your skilled tracker will attempt to reveal.
This tour is for those serious about safari. Experienced trackers guide you through three of South Africa’s most famous game reserves in a range of daily game drives expertly designed to reveal the many faces of wild Africa. Your accommodation is in traditional African safari camps where antelope and vervet monkeys roam freely around the grounds and the sounds of the wild African savannah lull you to sleep under a blanket of stars.
Enjoy a personalized vacation that best suits your needs, developed by one of our experienced destination experts. Relax during your trip with our 24/7 support and expert local guidance.

This afternoon you'll meet up with others at the lodge and embark on your afternoon game drive. When the White Lions of the Timbavati were discovered in the mid-1970s, they became the subject of much interest and debate. There have been various “spiritual” powers attributed to the White lions and many people were and still are of
the opinion that the lions are a different species. The truth is that this is a natural phenomenon that occurs due
to “leucism”. The white coats possessed by the “White Lions of the Timbavati” were not the product of “albinism” (a relatively common condition resulting from a failure to develop pigment), but from another condition called “leucism”, in which the pelt is white but eyes and skin are pigmented. This rare event (also termed a “chinchilla mutation”) is thought to represent an evolutionary stage in the progressive loss of pigmentation.
Both parents carry the recessive “white gene”; and the offspring inherit the recessive gene of each parent. If a cub receives a dominant “tawny” gene from either parent, its pelt will
be tawny. Thus a litter may be comprised of both tawny and white cubs. Every so often we are treated to glimpses of these incredible animals in Timbavati.

Travel tips of South Africa
VISA/PASSPORT
Visitors to South Africa for tourism, short business meetings, or those in transit do not require visas for stays of up to 90 days. We recommend that the passports of all travelers to South Africa contain at least two completely blank (unstamped) visa pages each time entry is sought. These pages are in addition to the endorsement/amendment pages (as many as four) at the back of the passport. While South African statutes require only one completely blank visa page, this rule has been applied inconsistently by South African immigration officials. In addition, any trip to a neighboring country would necessitate another blank page upon return.
Please note obtaining a visa is your responsibility. These requirements change often and therefore it is best that you check with the embassy of South Africa for the most up to date visa information.
HEALTH
Health insurance is recommended. Medical facilities are relatively wide spread and good quality. We recommend that you see a health-care provider who specializes in Travel Medicine. The doctor or health-care provider will determine what vaccinations and medication you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, areas of the country you will be visiting, and planned activities. For more information on travel requirements, visit the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/south-africa.aspx
