Hawksmoor House is a Cape Dutch country retreat located on a 220- hectare wine farm, Matjieskuil, near Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands. Meticulously restored and beautifully decorated with exquisite antiques, it occupies a stunning location amidst vineyards overlooking Table Mountain, and enjoys spectacular sunsets. A 25 minute drive away from the buzzing Cape Town centre, the estate is quiet and serene. In addition to guests, the farm is home to horses, cows, porcupines, hawks, pelicans and countless other wildlife. The manor house contains a grand dining room, a drawing room with fireplace. There is an honesty bar, a small library with internet access and a farmhouse kitchen with AGA stove and direct access to the herb garden. The grounds are laid out to include a large lawn, reflecting pond, lavender beds, vegetable, rose and herb gardens. The property includes a gorgeous wine cellar with fireplace, a wine tasting room, and a swimming pool with a view of Table Mountain.
Rooms are spacious (25+ sqm), decorated individually, each designed around a colour or theme, and furnished throughout with exquisite antiques and contemporary touches. The rooms feature queen-size bed, digital safe, elegant en-suite bathrooms with shower and/or bath, and underfloor heating. Fabulous complimentary toiletries and beautiful garden views.
Hawksmoor House offers continental and english breakfast. Complimentary afternoon tea with home-baked cake is served daily. The grand dining room offers guests delicious cheese and meat platters. There is also an Honesty Bar on site.
Guests can take a dip in the pool or sit back and relax poolside. The outdoor pool is set discreetly away from the house, fringed with canvas umbrellas and padded sunloungers, all with views of Table Mountain in the distance, and ostriches just beyond the fence.
