In southwest Tanzania, east of Lake Tanganyika lies Katavi National Park. Together with the neighbouring Rukwa, Lukwati and Luafi Game Reserves and numerous forest reserves, this ecosystem is the heart of one of the biggest and richest wildlife areas in Tanzania.
An abundance of giraffe, zebra, impala and reedbuck provide easy pickings for the numerous lion prides and spotted hyena clans whose territories converge on the floodplains. Herds of buffalo and elephant can be easily spotted. You can also spot many animals along the remaining pools of the Katuma river which are bursting with hippos and crocodiles.
Katavi National Park is remote, undeveloped and bristling with big wild animals; an ideal destination for an authentic bush safari experience.
