Kiba Point has only 4 open-fronted rooms set back from the river in the forest line. With just four rooms, Kiba Point is the smallest camp in the Selous. A hidden gem offering a real escape, tucked away in the shade of the riverine forest on the banks of a mile-wide river.
Kiba Point is Sand Rivers' private camp - a totally exclusive retreat at the heart of the Selous. With family or a group of friends, life doesn't get much better than a few days here. You'll have the freedom to explore the Rufiji River, it's tributaries and sand channels. Or to discover the lakes and woodland of this quiet area of Northern Selous in complete privacy with your own guide. And in the heat of the day, you can loll by the pool, snooze or just watch the river rolling by.
Kiba Point has only 4 open-fronted rooms set back from the river in the forest line. All have bathrooms en-suite, with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and indoor and outdoor showers. Each room has its own plunge pool set into the edge of the deck, and there is also a large pool at the main thatched mess, where you can also sink into comfortable sofas and chairs for an afternoon of general laziness.
Enjoy breakfast on a sand bank in Stigler's Gorge watching elusive monkey-hunting crowned eagles, and listening to shrill cires of Hyraxes as you dangle a hook in the water. Or lunch in the deep shade of palm trees, watching the comings and goings on a lake shore.
All activities are totally exclusive, just you and your guide. The open sided 4x4 vehicles are a great way of covering distances and the best views, access and photographic opportunities. Boating down the river, drifting silently down stream, gently spiralling in the current, watching the river banks unfold.
