Olakira Mobile Camp

Like the wildebeest that are the stars of the Serengeti Annual Migration, Olakira Camp is a wanderer; a luxurious under-canvas camp that moves with the seasons, forever following the herds to ensure you have a front-row seat to the greatest show on earth.  Fine linens, finer dining and a touch of nomadic romance are the hallmarks of this authentic East African safari camp. Whether it’s at the river crossings of the northern Serengeti or on the great grassy plains of the south, the intimate Olakira Camp ensures the best of the Serengeti is always right on your doorstep.

Olakira offers a modern take on the vintage charm of an East African safari under canvas, without abandoning too many creature comforts: the beds are king-size and bedecked with fine linen, a canvas chaise lounge graces your private veranda, while flickering Arabian lanterns offer a touch of nomadic romance in this timeless landscape. With the Serengeti literally on your doorstep, panoramic views, naturally, come standard.

Central to the camp are two common tents that are open to the surrounding nature. When the camp is occupied by multiple small groups, one tent will serve as a dining tent and the other one as a lounge, where drinks are served and safari stories are shared. When a larger group (e.g., 8 people) visits the camp, one of the common tents can be made the exclusive lounging/dining tent for that group. The other tent will then be set up as a lounging/dining tent for the other guests. Fantastic meals are served in the dining tent or in a private location: on your own veranda or under the Serengeti stars.

Olakira Mobile Camp Activities

The northern Serengeti areas are renowned for privacy from other tourists and fabulous wildlife viewing, particularly of the great wildebeest migration from July to October. Drives in these areas, short trips or full day explorations give you opportunities for close encounters with the animals. Lunch in the bush, while enjoying an amazing view and delicious food and wine, is a welcome interruption to otherwise action packed days. As it moves periodically throughout the year, this mobile camp gives you the best game viewing of the world-renowned game of the Serengeti.
