Tarangire Safari Lodge is situated on a panoramic bluff in Tarangire National Park, with one of Tanzania's most spectacular views, plentiful wildlife and the Tarangire river. Game drives within Tarangire National Park are a year-round wildlife spectacle. The river flows through the park and is a magnet for wildlife, especially large populations of elephant. The park also contains varied and contrasting landscapes and unrivalled birdlife.
At the heart of the lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining area. The open design allows for an uninterrupted landscape view and captures the cooling breeze. Between game viewing excursions, relax in the large comfortable lounge. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool or browse in the Baobab Boutique. The main facilities including three tents. Accommodation choices are either a traditional canvas tent or a roomy stone bungalow, with all rooms having a direct valley view.
Tents are sturdy and comfortable. They are built on a solid base, with a thatched roof and verandah. Include screened windows with large curtains and en-suite bathrooms with solar heated showers. All the tents have been recently refurbished with new textiles and ten tents have double beds.
The five bungalows are built from local stone in the circular style of Maasai huts. The thick walls, large windows and thatched roofs ensure that they remain cool. The bungalows are suited as triples or family units. All the beds have mosquito nets. The spacious en-suite bathrooms include a large shower and plenty of solar heated water. Each bungalow has a shaded verandah allowing for comfortable viewing of a large water hole.
Enjoy the international homestyle safari cuisine in a very spacious open-air dining room. All of the fruit and vegetables are freshly grown at Simba Farm, on West Kilimanjaro. The breakfast buffet includes a healthy spread that suits every taste and an eager cook is ready to prepare eggs or pancakes in front of you. Tanzanian tea and coffee with the signature cinnamon rolls are brought to your table. Lunch is buffet style with a varied selection of soups, salads, hot and cold dishes. Pastry or fruit salad compliments every meal. A three course dinner by candlelight, along with a wide selection of wine, is the ideal way to end your day.
Take a refreshing dip in the large outdoor pool. Or sit back and rest on the lounge chairs by the pool. Children may also enjoy the splash pool in the same vicinity.
Lodge activities include scenic walks and game drives. The area of Tarangire is best known for its large concentration of elephants. It is a home to approximately 2,500 individuals and large herds are regularly viewed from the lodge. With its varied habitats and the constant water areas, the park hosts a large diversity of wildlife. There are 94 species of mammals and over 500 bird species have been recorded thus far.
