Tarangire Sopa Lodge
The Sopa Lodge in Tarangire, Tanzania, is well-placed among powerful baobob trees, and frequented by an abundance of wildlife. Located in the Tarangire National Park, it is a haven of picturesque gardens and vegetation accented by earthy grounds. The hotel is built of 75 spacious rooms that are truly more like suites, with remarkable space for movement and lounging. The lobby, as well, is notably festooned by wondrous windows showcasing grand views of the lodge’s surroundings. Dining is a most pleasurable experience, with caring staff and a range of culinary specialties from which to choose. Hidden among the kopjes, lies Tarangire Sopa Lodge, surrounded by ancient baobab trees. It is the home of the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa, and other game including the elusive leopard. Over 400 bird species can be spotted here as well. With water constantly available in the area, the greenery is lush providing a wonderful contrast to the burnt ground. In the Tarangire National Park which covers an area of 2800 sq km. The lodge lies 118 km south west of Arusha, approximately 2 hours drive from Arusha town and 20 mins flying time with another 20 mins transfer time to the lodge. Spacious and airy with marble floors, and has glass sliding doors that open out to a verandah where one can relax and enjoy the view. The ceiling has a wooden finishing, and the décor with plants in strategic places, gives it a feeling of total relaxation, much needed after the long and dusty drive to the lodge.
