Tanzania is home to some of the most popular natural landmarks in Africa, including Arusha National Park. While it may not be as large as some of the better-known destinations, this East African attraction is home to a varied and diverse landscape that stands out among the rest of your Tanzania tour.
There are many highlights of Arusha National Park, but you'll certainly notice Mount Meru right off the bat. The peak is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania, standing behind only Mount Kilimanjaro. At nearly 15,000 feet, Meru forms the centerpiece of this spectacular national park.
Other natural formations have also become staples of trips to Arusha National Park, including the volcanic Ngurdoto Crater, but the reserve is probably best-known for its diverse wildlife. While there are not quite as many animals as nearby Serengeti National Park, you can still see everything from giraffes and buffalo to monkeys and flamingos.
You may also want to take note of its gorgeous Momela Lakes, which are fed from underground rivers. These unique lakes are often colored green and blue and attract animals from all over the park.
