The camp is of an entirely bespoke design fusing old world luxury and style with cutting edge technology. There are seven heated sleeping tents raised on wooden platforms and with two comfortable beds in each. There is ample storage for all your clothes and equipment, and the rooms are wonderfully warm and snug. The camp also comprises of a shower tent, toilet facilities and then three huge dome tents that are 9meters in diameter and house the dining area, lounge, library and kitchen. These tents are all heated and the perfect place to relax after spending some time out in the elements. The camp is run on extremely strict environmental protocols and powered exclusively by solar electricity and wind. As such, it is always quiet, allowing you to get to grips with the vast and silent surroundings you are living in.
Our award-winning chef is based at our camp preparing three meals a day for our clients. From hearty breakfasts of bacon and eggs to picnics whilst out trekking, the ingredients are all sourced locally in Cape Town and then flown into Antarctica. The evening meal is really the main event with delicious three course meals, fine wine and a chance for everyone to relax in the warm and spacious dining tent whilst recounting some of the stories from the day. Clients often think they will loose some weight coming to Antarctica, but with Jenna’s amazing food, it’s rarely the case!
Our daily activities cater for wide spectrum of clients – from those into serious adrenalin, to others who want to be more relaxed and enjoy Antarctica at their own pace. With our high ratio of guides to clients, the choice is entirely up to you. We splinter off each day into different groups offering gentle activities such as, 4x4 trips to the 200ft ice barrier, exploring stunning ice caves, visiting the emperor penguin colony, and exclusive visits to the local science stations. For those with a taste for more adrenalin, our record-breaking guides can push you as far as you want to go, from climbing totally unclimbed mountains, harnessing the wind to kite-ski, abseiling in crevasses, experiencing a 2-night mini polar expedition, and sleeping in your own igloo. The landscape and the possibilities are endless! We have always felt that Antarctica is as big as your imagination.
