The Trans-Siberian railway is one of world’s safest modes of travel. It is safe, clean and maintained to the highest standards. There are 3 compartments categories, and a shower on board. In category I and II cars, you can raise the lower bunk beds; there is more storage space for luggage in a metal compartment underneath. You can put your valuables in here and sleep well knowing they are safe. In many of the cars you can widen the lower beds by a few centimetres. Your car conductor will be happy to assist you. All compartments have a dial for announcements on the on-board intercom. You can walk through the entire train. The view from the very last car is especially interesting. Even the luggage compartment is available for viewing. The train has a maximum length of 21 cars, a restaurant and a luggage car. All meals are included in the journey, as well as special activities and features as specified in the tour itinerary.

The entire train is air-conditioned, which works when the train is rolling and the windows are closed. It takes about 30 minutes to completely cool the train. When the train has come to a stop the conductor will often open an aisle window. The air conditioning and heating in category IV can be individually adjusted when the train is rolling. A Russian doctor will be travelling on the train. There will be consultation hours, or you can make an appointment - he or she will be at your service 24/7. There are power outlets in aisles of the sleeping cars, but not in the compartments (except for category III and IV).
Bolshoi category is equipped with two beds, one of which measures 43.30 inches x 74.80 inches (1.10 m x 1.90 m), even providing room for two people if required. Furthermore, the 219.29 inches² (5.57 m²) large compartments offer a cosy seating bench, a commodious table and a wardrobe. The compartment’s exclusive en suite bathroom does not only contain a washing basin, WC and shower, but also enough storage space for your personal belongings. Each car of the Bolshoi category has only six compartments.
The Nostalgic Comfort Category (III) are the newly built cars of Category III, nostalgically furnished, but also provide modern amenities. Two compartments share one small lavatory with wash basin and shower facility between every two compartments. Combined toilet/lavatory compartments are located at each end of this category’s car.
In the Classic category(II), there are 9 compartments per car. A compartment is shared by two guests. Berths are sized app. 70 x 190 cm and arranged facing each other. There is also a table under the window. Combined toilet/lavatory compartments are located at each end of this category’s cars. In every second car there is a shower.
Bolshoi Platinum category (V) features the highest possible comfort on the Transsiberian. Each compartment is 7.15 m² large and provided with full shower cabin, WC and washing basin. The lower bed measures 120 × 184 cm, the upper one 82 × 174 cm. The compartment is equipped with a very spacious wardrobe, hair dryer, bathrobe and slippers. Each car of the Platinum category contains 5 of these magnificent cabins, assuring that there is a maximum of only 10 guests per car.
Superior Plus has 8 newly refurbished compartments per car. A compartment is shared by two guests. Berths are sized app. 70× 190 cm and arranged facing each other. There is also a table under the window. Combined toilet/lavatory compartments are located at each end of this category’s cars. 8 compartments share one refurbished shower room.

The restaurant car is located in the middle of the train, and serves all meals. The cuisine served on the special train is fresh, diverse and nutritious. After meals the restaurant car is converted into a bar that stays open until twelve-thirty. You can use the car after mealtimes for relaxed socializing – chatting, chess, or bridge with a nice glass of wine or beer.
