Day 1: Bali - Ubud

Rural Bali
Day 2: Bali - Ubud
Today's excursion will lead you to the rural heartland of Bali which presents an altered landscape and a different history. Your first stop is Pura Taman Ayun, founded by the King of Mengwi in the 17th century. It has three ascending levels of spacious courtyards containing rows of shrines and pavilions and is surrounded by a wide moat. The next one will be Lake Bratan, where a crater lies serenely in the midst of an elongated valley, formed centuries ago. A small temple called Pura Ulun Danu Bratan to honor Dewi Danau, goddess of the lake, can be seen on the lake promontory. Stroll along Candi Kuning market, where local fruits, vegetable and flowers are sold. After lunch, the trip continues through breathtaking valleys of rice paddies near Jatiluwih to visit Pura Luhur Batukau temple, in dense jungle near the peak of Gunung Batukau, Bali’s second highest mountain. The ancient temple complex has a number of separate sanctuaries joined by damp mountain paths, bubbling springs and a large rectangular lake with a shrine in its midst.

Day 3: Bali - Makassar - Tana Toraja
Airport transfer with private vehicle and English-speaking driver.
Fly one way from Bali to Makassar.
Upon your arrival at Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, a representative will load up your private vehicle and make route towards Toraja. Travel along the coast to Pare Pare for roughly 8 hours, making stops for lunch on the way. Continuing toward the Toraja Homeland, you will make another afternoon stop for coffee at Puncak Lakawang, which provides a spectacular view of the surrounding landscapes. In the late afternoon hours you will arrive at the Land of the Toraja.

Day 4: Tana Toraja
Early in the morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out for some touring around the Toraja Highlands. Start with a visit to Lemo, to see the cliffs displaying a variety of ancestral sculptures and hanging graves. From here, continue to Londa, the location where during ancient times ceremonial burial took place. Next, you will visit the wonderful Toraja village of Kete Kesu, where you will see the Tongkonan boat-houses, and rice barns. This village is locally known for producing spectacular woodcarvings.

Day 5: Tana Toraja - Makassar
Fill up at breakfast before making your return to Makassar from Toraja. Along the way you will once again stop for lunch around Pare Pare, before continuing this drive to Makassar. Upon arrival you will check into your hotel, and have the remainder of the day to spend at leisure.

A sunset outing to the southwestern tip of Bali for a visit of the Uluwatu Temple, which is perched precipitously atop sheer cliffs that drop straight into the pounding surf 250 feet above the sea. This is one of the grandest and oldest temples in Bali, built in 11th century. Watch the spectacular sunset overlooking the Indian Ocean and enjoy the mystic atmosphere before you are driven to Jimbaran Beach for an extensive BBQ Seafood Dinner on the beach.

Travel tips of Indonesia
VISA/PASSPORT
The Indonesian government requires visitors to have a passport valid for at least six months following the date of arrival. Indonesian authorities regularly deny entry to all foreign nationals who arrive with less than six months’ validity on their passports. American and Canadian citizens are required to have a visa to enter Indonesia. Visa processing generally takes 7 working days for a Tourist Visa along with a visa processing fee of approximately $55. A 30 days visa can also be applied upon arrival at Jakarta International Airport. This visa costs approximately $25. Tourist passport holders may apply for a non-extendable visitor Visa-on-Arrival at airports.
Please note obtaining a visa is your responsibility. These requirements change often and therefore it is best that you check with the Embassy of Indonesia for the most up to date visa information.
HEALTH
Health insurance is required. Medical facilities are not widespread and poor quality. We recommend that you see a health-care provider who specializes in Travel Medicine. The doctor or health-care provider will determine what vaccinations and medication you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, areas of the country you will be visiting, and planned activities. Government: Republic. Declared independence from The Netherlands in 1945.
Language: Bahasa Indonesia is the official national language. Altogether, there are an estimated 583 languages and dialects spoken in the archipelago. The older generation still speaks Dutch as a second language and English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
Religion: There is a Muslim majority of approximately 90%, with Christian, Hindu (mainly in Bali) and Buddhist minorities.

- Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $350). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure.
- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
- Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
