Sounkaku is a traditional Japanese-style inn located near the top of Mt. Soun. Guests can enjoy splendid landscape overlooking the mountains of Hakone. The popular tourist spots are easily accessible from the nearest station, Sounzan. Sounkaku has been in business for over 80 years and was fully renovated in April 2010. It now offers the spirit of traditional Japanese aesthetics with elegant scent of Japanese cypress wood while retaining a classical atmosphere.
Japanese-style tatami rooms provide total relaxation and comfort with traditional atmosphere in harmony with nature. Guests have an option of a tatami room with futons, which is a traditional style room that keeps the authentic Japanese spirit alive. The inn offers genuine Japanese hospitality with a picturesque view and the tatami room features bedding, which is provided to guests who prefer to sleep in beds. There is a separate bedroom connected to the tatami room and the latest facilities include a flat-screen TV and an air purifier.

Gora hot springs have long been popular in Japan dating back to 1888. Renowned as an established Japanese Inn with a long tradition, their hot spring facilities are all supplied with water directly from a fountainhead and not recycled. Sounkaku alkaline spring water is relatively unique among the hot springs in Hakone, and keeps guests body warm after a bath and helps maintain beautiful, smooth skin. There are separate public baths for men and women, each have an outdoor and indoor bath. A privately reserved open-air bath is also available upon prior request.
