Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa comprises 492 luxurious rooms and suites in two wings, the Kinabalu Wing and the Tanjung Wing. All rooms have been recently renovated to provide contemporary luxury inspired by the colours and textures of traditional Borneo. Kinabalu Seaview rooms and suites offer memorable views of the either the ocean or Mount Kinabalu. Rooms in the Tanjung Wing face the South China Sea.

• Café TATU

Café TATU is a contemporary restaurant featuring a varied buffet breakfast and dinner in an open-kitchen design. Watch as the dish is prepared fresh on the spot at one of the cooking stations. Café TATU offers Mongolian, Tandoori, Asian noodles, dim sum, pasta, salads and desserts. Lunch is available à la carte.

This contemporary beach barbecue restaurant and bar serves refreshing cocktails, fresh seafood and an a la carte menu. Diners are welcome to engage in a cook-it-yourself barbecue experience with the family. Enjoy an unobstructed view of the South China Sea at the restaurant’s private beach-dining platforms.

• Peppino

Contemporary and chic, the establishment is elegantly designed with warm timber furnishings and sleek leather furniture. Adorning the olive green walls are canvasses of beautifully hand painted olive trees contributed by local artist Martini Asap. Boasting a spacious dining area with seating capacity of 118 persons, diners have the option of dining al fresco at the romantic outdoor terrace or in air-conditioned comfort.

• Shang Palace

Shang Palace is located at the ground level of the resort, overlooking the evergreen Kinabalu garden and the South China Sea. The classic traditional interiors enhance the experience of dining on our excellent Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is renowned for its delectable dim sum, available for breakfast and lunch, as well as its mouth-watering choice of Cantonese and Chinese fare. Shang Palace can accommodate private dinner functions for up to 138 persons. Two private dining rooms for 10 and 20 persons are also available.

Take the shuttle to our sister resort, Rasa Ria, where you'll find a unique 64-acre Nature Reserve featuring Sabah's icon, the Orang Utan. The Nature Reserve is aimed primarily at nature conservation and Orang Utan rehabilitation. The Rehabilitation Programme for Orang Utans which is carried out at the Nature Reserve is the only one of its kind on the west coast of the state of Sabah, with Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in Sandakan on the East Coast of the state being the main Orang Utan rehabilitation centre in the country. The Reserve is also home to a wide spectrum of Sabah wildlife, such as two species of deer, long-tailed macaques, pheasants, civets, bear cat, masked musang, monitor lizard, water hens, porcupines, slow lorises, pangolins, pitcher plants, fruit bats and 63 species of birds. The resort sits alongside an inviting stretch of sparkling South China Sea beaches, including Tanjung Aru Beach and Sunset Beach. The Sunset Bar offers cocktails from 5 - 8 pm each day.

CHI, The Spa, at Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa offers a unique spa design concept. A standalone spa village sits on an island connected to the hotel via a private causeway. Traditional Borneo treatments on the spa menu are plant-based in nature, energy aware and reflect the multi-cultural heritage of the region.
