Drive 40 km Southwest of Hoi An in private vehicle with English speaking guide. Visit the capital and religious center of the former Champa Kingdom, My Son, a designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. In a lush green valley, are dozens of red brick towers and sanctuaries dating from between the 7th and 13th centuries. Drive back to Hoi An for lunch (included). In the afternoon take a walking tour of Hoi An, discover the historic town which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries. Visit Hoi An's colourful local market, Tan Ky old house, Fukien Assembly Hall, and the 400-year-old Japanese covered bridge. Travellers can also see local residents raise silkworms and produce silk for Hoi An's burgeoning textile industry.
In the morning, you will be met by your English speaking guide with private car at your hotel and transferred on a half day of cooking class at a school. With a guide from the restaurant, you will take a walking tour through the market, where you will be shown all the fresh ingredients that would be used in typical Vietnamese recipes. After the market tour, a 25 minute boat ride will take you across the Hoi An River. Take sight of the fishermen cast their nets up along the river while on your way to the cooking school. Upon arrival at a small town you will walk towards the cooking school. The lesson will begin in an open-air pavilion next to the river, where Chef Thanh will teach you how to cook traditional Vietnamese dishes. Afterwards, relax and enjoy the lunch that you have prepared.

The biking tour along the Perfume River starts in the afternoon. You will have chance to see how the local people live. In the Vy Da village visitors can enjoy the Hue coffee and learn more about ancient architecture of the place. You will sit on one of antique chests that is situated under the trees, drink a tea or coffee and enjoy watching blooming flowers and hearing the birdsongs.

You will be met by your English speaking guide at your hotel and transfer by private car to visit War Remnants Museum, which features a comprehensive collection of the machinery, weapons, photos, and documentation of Vietnam's wars with the both the French and Americans. The museum is a call for peace, and the hope that the horrors of war will never be repeated. The exhibit begins with a room listing war facts such as troop numbers, bomb tonnage, and statistics on international involvement in the conflict, including numbers of casualties on both sides. Your visit will also include exhibits dedicated to the journalists who were lost during the war as well as biological warfare, weaponry, and worldwide movements for peace. Continue the tour to the Reunification Palace, which was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until end of April 1975. Afterwards, stop at Ben Thanh Market for a shopping experience. Entrance fees and mineral water is included in this tour.

Just, 60 miles northwest of Ho Chi Minh City is the Great Temple or Holy See, the center of the intriguing Cao Dai sect. Cao Dai is a syncretist Vietnamese religious movement that incorporates aspect of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and even Catholicism. The Cao Dai Temple (as it is more commonly known) was begun in 1933 in a unique architectural style that reflects its blended traditions. In the afternoon, you will travel just north of the city to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. The Vietnamese are proud of their resolve in their prolonged history of struggle against invading armies, and the story of the people of Cu Chi is indicative of that spirit. The residents of Cu Chi then took their war underground, literally, developing a network of tunnels that, at its height, stretched as far as Cambodia and included meeting rooms, kitchens, and triage areas. Enjoy a nice lunch at a local Vietnamese restaurant.

Today will be spent exploring the major temples of Angkor, an absolute highlight and must-do on any trip to Cambodia. Pace your time according to your personal tastes, as you move about the complex visiting sites that date back to the 12th century. Pass under the towering South Gate of Angkor Thom, known as the "Great City". Head into the Bayon group of ruins, famous for the multitude of ancient faces carved into the stone, now looking out over modern day visitors. Linger a while at photogenic Ta Prohm, a group of temples that have been overtaken by the jungle, as well as. Lunch will be eaten at a local Khmer restaurant. In the afternoon you will visit Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, and a symbol for Cambodia. Finally, watch the sky turn many colours of orange and pink from atop Phnom Bakheng, a hilltop monument with an ideal vantage point for sunset.
You will be picked up at your hotel or at the Hotel and transferred to the floating village of Kampong Khleang, one of the largest settlements on the Tonle Sap Lake. You will board a local boat and visit a floating house where a catered lunch is set up for you. You can observe the local houses as well as talk to your hosts about the difficulties they face living on the water. After lunch you will explore the small island, which is a home for a bustling market, pagoda, school and a health centre. While coming back to Siem Reap you will make a stop at the ruins of Roulous, which are the oldest Khmer monuments in the area. Late in the afternoon you will be transferred back to the hotel or airport.
You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport where you will be taken on a sightseeing tour by Tuk Tuk. Enjoy a half day tour visit to Ta Prohm Temple, Banteay Kdei, Pre Roup temple and Srah Srang. At the end of the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel or to the airport.

Wish we had more time. Thailand met our expectations but our expectations for Cambodia were low and they exceeded them. Loved the places selected for the included lunches. We planned the trip in every possible detail and Alexis was extraordinary during the whole process. Once we were in Cambodia, we had a tiny issue with the car.
