Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort is a luxury conservation-based resort located in Australia's Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area. Modelled on acclaimed Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa in Dubai, the resort is set within its own private conservation and wildlife reserve where guests can enjoy absolute luxury, tranquility and connection with nature. Nestled between two National Parks and spread out at the foot of towering sandstone cliffs, the homestead-style resort occupies just two percent of the total land area of 4,000 acres. Up to 90 guests are catered for in 40 free-standing suites each with private swimming pool, and a main homestead with luxury facilities and stand-alone timeless spa. Guests are able to appreciate the very special natural, cultural and scenic values of the Wolgan Valley through a diverse range of nature based activities.
Encompassing 40 free-standing luxury suites, each with its own private terrace and swimming pool, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort was built using today's cutting edge technology and yet perfectly echoes the original heritage architecture, allowing it to blend seamlessly with the vastness and dramatic beauty of the Australian bush. Using world-leading conservation measures, the original Homestead has been carefully restored to its former glory.
Constructed from wood and stone materials and designed in Federation-style, Wolgan Valley's 36 Heritage Suites are ideal for single guests, or couples looking for luxurious surroundings on a romantic break. Each has a private aspect offering stunning views of the valley beyond. The private pool features its own deck surrounded by a garden of native plants and shrubs; a spacious verandah adjoins it. Inside, a central, double-sided fireplace of local sandstone separates the bedroom from the living area. Great attention to detail has been paid to ensure the fixtures and fittings are reminiscent of the Federation period; right down to the last hinge, light switch and glass blown shade. Warm, earthy tones and thick, neutral linens are complemented by locally-crafted wood furniture that typifies the lodge's timeless style and elegance. The suites feature entertainment and internet technologies. Thoughtful extras, such as binoculars, let you get up close with the wildlife without having to leave the deep-cushioned comfort of the sofa. A luxurious ensuite bathroom features twin vanities, a separate shower and bath, while the indulgent Babor bathroom therapies are 100 per cent biodegradable.
An ideal family retreat or perfect luxury honeymoon hideaway, each of the three Wollemi Suites is private lodge. With a large living room, separate lounge and dining area and two spacious bedroom suites, Wollemi Suites offer guests the convenience of two ensuite bathrooms. Each suite takes full advantage of the expansive views and backdrop of imposing escarpments. The suites are thoughtfully arranged to provide families with sufficient space as well as separate areas, to be together, or find a peaceful nook to curl up and enjoy a good book. The main bedroom has a king-size bed, while the second suite is furnished with a king-size zipper bed, which can easily be separated into two king singles. Whether dining in and celebrating with a family meal, watching a movie from the resort's extensive collection, relaxing on the verandah or enjoying a dip in the pool, the Wollemi Suites offer the perfect environment to make the most out of the unique location.
There is only one Wolgan Suite and, with a total area of 410 square metres it is the epitome of space and luxury. As a totally self-contained lodge, the Wolgan Suite is set away from the main resort, amidst a huge and richly landscaped garden with private terraces and swimming pool. It is the ideal retreat for a get-together with friends or family in stunning surroundings, or the perfect sanctuary for an indulgent escape with a special someone. An expansive living and dining room as well as a beautifully equipped gourmet kitchen make entertaining a true pleasure. Two capacious bedroom suites each have their own ensuite bathroom, and third guest room or private staff quarters ensures a level of luxury found only at the top of exclusive accommodations.
You can drop in at the Country Kitchen for a light snack of coffee and toast if the morning calls for a change from breakfast in the Wolgan Dining Room. Or you may wait until it's time for lunch and selected your favorite from the daily specials on the blackboard. Kitchen specialties such as a regional ploughman’s platter or antipasto, salted white bait fritter served with a crispy salad, or Butternut Pumpkin with Black Cod Tortellini are just a few examples for what is on offer.
The Wolgan Valley Dining Room offers an elegant yet relaxed ambience in which one can enjoy the main meals of the day. This spacious restaurant spills out onto the stunning verandah with panoramic views of the resort and beyond. Begin the day with a leisurely breakfast that may include freshly baked pastries, organic muesli, fruit compôtes, local jams and honey, and freshly baked bread followed by your choice of a hearty cooked dish or locally produced cold cuts and cheeses. In the evening, crisp linen adorn the tables, while polished silver and sparkling crystal ware catches the light for a refined six-course menu or an à la carte evening meal. The menu changes daily and varies according to season - in order to taste a much larger selection of culinary delights, why not try the nine-course degustation menu, available upon request.
When special occasions call for seclusion, the private dining room seating up to 12 is available for guests to use. Elegantly appointed, the room features a central polished table and comfortable, stylishly upholstered chairs. Large picture windows look out upon reserve grounds, and meals can be enjoyed at guests' leisure. In addition, guests are welcome to dine in the privacy of their suites, with room service delivered 24 hours a day. Private deck dining offers a memorable experience, where dinner is served by a personal waiter in the romantic setting of a your own private deck under the stars (additional charges may apply).
At Wolgan Valley, the Timeless Spa experience is second to none and offers a broad selection of holistic therapies from around the world. In addition to the signature Timeless products, two further ranges complement the collection and are used in the various treatments on offer at the luxury spa facilities. These include Australia's Sodashi range (which is 100 per cent organic and inspired by nature) as well as restorative products from leading spa brand, Babor of Germany. For those guests keen to maintain their exercise regime while on holiday, there are two outdoor tennis courts onsite, as well as a fully-equipped gymnasium with floor-to-ceiling windows, which present inspiring views of the dramatic Blue Mountains scenery. Although each guest suite has its own plunge pool, there is also a larger communal pool for all guests to use along with a spa pool, sauna and steamroom. The resort’s Field Guides are able to offer a variety of inspiring activities to see Wolgan Valley and the surrounding Blue Mountains region. Guests can choose from hiking nature trails, exploring the countryside on horseback, touring by four-wheel drive, mountain biking through forests, or stargazing in the dead of night. These are just some of the many adventures awaiting those with a love for Australia’s great outdoors.
