This area of unsurpassed beauty contains the two highest mountains in Queensland, numerous rivers, waterfalls, swimming holes and some of the World's lushest and most ancient rainforests. You will have a fantastic time in the diverse locations. The tour will provide you with awesome lifetime memories. Visit Kuranda Rainforest Station and learn about Australian animals. Then continue to the Curtain Fig Tree, this unique and stunning massively formed strangler fig is simply not to be missed. Over hundreds of years, it has effectively “strangled” 4 trees to create a high rise building sized eco system. Enjoy a delicious Australian style lunch with a great variety of salads, ham, chicken, pasta, quiche, bread, fruit salad and cake at Gallo's Dairyland. In the afternoon you visit the Millaa Millaa Falls and watch out for the Ulysses Butterfly. Arrive at Mamu Canopy Walk to explore the rainforest from the forest floor to the canopy, in comfort and safety. The skywalk passes through one of the largest-remaining, continuous stands of complex vine forest on basalt soils in the Wet Tropics. Enjoy close-up views of rainforest plants, insects and birds, and take in sweeping vistas of World Heritage rainforest landscapes. At Josephine Falls take a short walk to a series of dramatic cascading waterfalls and enjoy a swim at the large rock-pools before returning to Cairns. The tour takes approximately 11 hours and departs Cairns at 8.00 a.m. and the Northern Beaches at 7.20 a.m. You will be picked-up from your hotel. The group size may vary between 4 and 12 passengers. You have the morning to discover historic Cooktown. It was here that the famous explorer Captain James Cook took refuge during his voyage of discovery after claiming Australia as a British colony in 1770. You have the option to visit Cooktown’s fascinating historical museum, featuring artefacts from Cook’s ship – Endeavour. See the original anchor and cannon, jettisoned overboard after Endeavour struck a reef and began taking on water. Perhaps visit the Botanic Gardens, where you may catch a glimpse of native Australian wildlife including kangaroos and wallabies. This afternoon you visit one of the remote uninhabited islands of the Great Barrier Reef. Join the marine biologist for a glass bottom boat tour over the colourful coral gardens before our first snorkelling opportunity for up-close views of the hundreds of varieties of coral growing on this section of reef.
