Day 1: Melbourne

For your added comfort, we will have an assistant waiting for you outside the customs with a sign with your name on it. Your representative will help you to coordinate meeting up with your private driver and accompany you to your accommodation and your adventure in Melbourne begins.

In the package you will receive a welcome letter, detailed itinerary, vouchers for each service, supplier contact list as well as various brochures of the destinations you will be visiting.

Dining in Melbourne can be a fabulous experience, especially aboard the fleet of historical trams that have become The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. These glossy, burgundy restaurants on wheels are the first travelling tramcar restaurants in the world and ensure a delightful innovative approach to dining. As they cruise the scenic streets of Melbourne, you can enjoy the fine cuisine and drink the very best of Australian wines or make a selection from the fully stocked bar. The atmosphere is cosy, the service friendly and the decor as inviting as the colonial period these trams reflect. The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant officially commenced operation in August 1983 and has since become a star attraction and tourist symbol for the city of Melbourne. Dining aboard the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant is not only a culinary delight, but also a trip into a little piece of Victoria's history. The tram departs from Tramstop #125 Normandy Road, near the corner of Clarendon St, South Melbourne at 5.45 p.m. (early dinner) or 8.35 p.m. (late dinner) and returns at approximately at7.15 p.m. (early dinner) and 11.30 p.m. (late dinner). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. The tram can accommodate up to 36 passengers.

  • Philip S. — May 19, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

Superb trip, and as mentioned earlier, kudos to Louise Baer for her outstanding work and for patiently putting up with me and all my calls and questions.

  • Edith R. — May 19, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

We had a wonderful experience with Kensington Tours from the planning stages with your very helpful agent Aseem Mahajan, to the very friendly meet and greet services at each airport. The hotels fit our needs perfectly and the tours were fun and interesting with guides that were exuberant and loved showing us Australia. Thank You for a truly grand family experience.

  • Jim M. — May 18, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

    Excellent tour.

  • Jennifer A. — May 12, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

Thank you Kensington Tours and Kevin Rowland for organizing this much needed trip for our family! I had read several positive reviews for Kensington Tours, but I didn't expect the level of service that we received. From beginning to end, the entire process was seamless. Each tour/excursion was led by a knowledgeable, personable and entertaining guide.

  • Diane F. — May 18, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

This is the second trip that we worked with Kensington to help plan and it was, like the first one, fantastic. The logistics were flawless and the help in planning was smooth and professional. From start to finish the process was fun. The trip was spectacular and we look forward to working with the Kensington team again on our next trip. Thank you

  • Holly W. — May 18, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

One of the highlights of our trip is how smoothly our activities for every day went. Having Kensington make arrangements in all the right places gave us time to relax and enjoy the trip.

  • Anne B. — May 18, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

Wendy was extremely knowledgeable, patient and accommodating during the planning of our trip to New Zealand. Our guides were always there and very knowledgeable and professional. We would certainly ask Kensington to help us plan another trip for us.

  • Jack F. — May 18, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

We had an absolutely wonderful trip. From our first email from Daniel until the time we arrived home everything went flawlessly. We spent 10 days in Australia and an additional 21 days in New Zealand accompanying a camping caravan from England. Kensington arranged all of our flights and all of our activities in Australia. We were met at the hotel door by all of our guides and tours. Each experience was great. We would not change a thing.

  • Carmen M. — May 13, 2016 — Australia & Pacific

    Everything was well organized.

  • JohnDanielson — December 12, 2014 — Australia & Pacific

We have used a number of small group travel companies and Kensington is the one we would recommend. All details of the trip to New Zealand went as planned. It was the trip of a lifetime. Our travel consultant Daniel did a great job, both pre-trip and post-trip. We will certainly use them again.
