Day 2: Nadi - Denarau

Amazing orchids, agile traditions and lively shopping miles - this diversified half-day tour offers you an exciting insight into the culture and the everyday life of the Fijians. Your professional tour guide welcomes you at your hotel this morning. First, the tour leads you north of the city to the famous Garden of the Sleeping Giant. This beautiful orchid-garden was planted by American actor Raymond Burr in 1977. The extraordinary collection of orchids and other tropical plants is one of the most substantial in the South Pacific area. During the walk through the lovely surroundings you will learn many interesting facts about Fiji’s flora. From the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, named after a mountain range looking like a sleeping giant, you will depart to the village Viseisei nearby, which is directly situated at Nadi Bay. The legends tell that the first Fijians settled down here in Viti Levu 3000 years ago. View the village and get insights into the life of the inhabitants. Look forward to a visit of the village’s school, where you will be welcomed with a kind Bula by the school children. Leave Viseisei and visit Nadi town. An endless number of marketers offer tropical fruits and everyday commodities at the big canopied market. Try a sweet pineapple, sip Kava - Fiji’s national beverage and discover the many tropical fruits available. After visiting the market with your tour guide, you have got a little time left to buy a few things for your stay or to have a look at one of the handicraft shops which offer a large choice of traditional products. To conclude the tour you will be returned to your hotel.

Day 4: Denarau - Nadi - Yasawa Islands

A transfer between Lautoka and the Port of Denarau is provided.

Your voyage into tropical paradise begins on-board a high speed private transfer catamaran, Cheetah, departing Denarau then cruising up through the islands to rendezvous with Fiji Princess in the Sacred Islands.

The Sacred Islands provide a breathtaking backdrop and the rest of your day is spent here enjoying these idyllic tropical islands and feeling very special because you will be the only ones there! It’s up to you how you want to spend your time in this stunning setting. Enjoy a swim, wander the beaches, kayak in the lagoon and just enjoy the feeling of being in this beautiful part of the world!

This afternoon you can learn the art of Fiji High Tea: learn how to make roti in lolo and enjoy with lemon tea.

Back on-board it's happy hour at the bar, cocktails, cold beers and wines on the upper deck. Cocktails can be won at the coconut bowls competition!

Tonight enjoy the Captain’s Dinner welcoming you into the Blue Lagoon family. The a la carte menu is served in the dining saloon and entertainment is provided by our talented singing, dancing and guitar playing crew!

Accommodation: Blue Lagoon Cruises - Fiji Princess

The ship accommodates up to 68 passengers and measures only 179 feet (60 meters) in length. Its size allows Fiji Princess to tie up to coconut trees during the day and explore lagoons and coves that would be inaccessible to a large vessel. This cruise through the Yasawa Islands includes on-board accommodation with private facilities, all meals, cruise activities including traditional Fijian entertainment and snorkeling equipment, entrance fees for all activities and village visits, a Blue Lagoon souvenir and the Captain's Complimentary Champagne Cocktail. Free Wi-Fi is available where reception allows.

Day 5: Yasawa Islands

After breakfast laze on the sun decks as you cruise past several of the Yasawa Islands. Your destination today is the famed Blue Lagoon. This superb stretch of water is circled by islands, creating a lagoon that is filled with fascinating coral reefs easily seen from the surface of the crystal clear waters.

One of those islands, Nanuya Lailai, is home to Blue Lagoon Cruises very own private beach. Watch as the crew position the vessel right up to the beach and tie her off to a coconut tree! Lunch is served on-board, whilst on shore the private 'Fiji style beach club' awaits, along with sun loungers, onshore massage, a bar and beach volleyball. You’ll have plenty of time for swimming, snorkeling, fish feeding, viewing coral from the glass bottom boat or just wandering along to a secluded stretch of beach to top up the tan. You will receive give a coconut demonstration – how to climb that palm, get the coconut and husk them, then appreciate fresh coconut milk straight from the coconut for afternoon tea. Delicious!

Happy hour is served on shore from the beach bar along with canapés. Tonight is a very special night with a traditional Lovo meal. The food is cooked underground in a specially prepared pit. Watch the unearthing of the Lovo and be tantalized by the smells. The dining room tonight is on the beach under the coconut palms and the stars.

Following dinner is a fantastic meke with singing, dancing and storytelling by a group of local villagers, come to share their company with Blue Lagoon guests.

Day 6: Yasawa Islands

Most of the day is at leisure at the private beach. Laze around or take part in any of the great Fijian activities. All of the islands activities from prior are on offer again today plus a few extra special ones: an easy guided walk, along the beach and up over the hill to the other side of the island is offered in the morning, basket weaving, a Fijian woodcarver demonstration, diving and a guided “Reef Safari” snorkeling trip.

After a delicious buffet lunch served in the dining bure on shore, the Fiji Princess heads north to the next destination, the mystical island of Sawa i Lau. Afternoon tea is served on-board as you cruise.

On arrival set off on a private guided visit to the Sawa i Lau caves. Steps rise from the shore up to the first cave. You can view the majestic cavern from the stairs or take to the water. A short swim through an underwater passage takes you into the second of these stunning limestone caves.
This evening includes a special visit to the village of Tamusua. A yaqona ceremony, a guided walk around the village and a Fiji village style 'feast' prepared and cooked by the village women awaits you. This is not a feast tailored for visitors but one exactly as the village would hold themselves for special occasions. Served outside if the weather is good, you will be Fijian for the night, sitting on mats, eating Fijian village food and sharing stories with the villagers about their culture and their home.

Return to Fiji Princess for a movie night. Pull up a chair or a sun lounger on the upper theatre deck, get a cold drink in hand and enjoy the one movie that just has to be shown on a Blue Lagoon Cruise – the classic 'Blue Lagoon' starring Brooke Shields.

Day 7: Yasawa Islands

On arrival at Drawaqa, where a Marine Biologist will tell you all about the local fish, marine life and the conservation work the Vinaka Fiji Volunteer team are doing in the area. If you are lucky enough to be here during May to October then an introduction to the magnificent manta rays, whose feeding ground is just nearby, will be included. Conditions permitting you will have the opportunity to snorkel with these wonderful creatures in small escorted groups. From October to April a guided 'Reef Safari' snorkeling tour is conducted to see the prolific corals, clams and marine life in this area. This is also a superb dive area and optional dives under expert instruction – perhaps your very first scuba dive can be booked. Certified divers well catered for as well! (Diving is an additional cost).

If getting wet is not your thing two other great activities are on offer. Visit a local village school where Vinaka Fiji volunteers are at work. Or, for a truly exhilarating view, from the island cliff top to the stunning waters below, have a go at abseiling!

Dinner this evening is a barbecue served on the upper deck of the vessel dining under the stars! A special feast and party night is the perfect way to celebrate your time in the Yasawas. The bar is open and the resident DJ 'Fiji Afro Jack' spins the tunes on the upper deck. If you haven’t already learnt the Bula Bula dance you soon will.

  • JohnDanielson — December 12, 2014 — Australia & Pacific

We have used a number of small group travel companies and Kensington is the one we would recommend. All details of the trip to New Zealand went as planned. It was the trip of a lifetime. Our travel consultant Daniel did a great job, both pre-trip and post-trip. We will certainly use them again.

  • Susan Pope — April 21, 2014 — Australia & Pacific

The arrangements all worked out very well, especially the drivers picking us up from airports and hotels. The hotels, although all in different categories, were mostly excellent. We were happy to see so many different areas of New Zealand and experience everything from glow worm caves to fjords to a Maori hangi and geothermals.

  • Sharon Weckenbrock — May 15, 2013 — Australia & Pacific

We are safely back home but still on Cloud 9 from the fabulous trip that you helped to put together for us! Everything worked just as I had hoped it would and in many cases, exceeded all expectations.

We have definitely been recommending you and your company to anyone asking our advice and again, we can't thank you enough for a trip of a lifetime!

  • Donna Brennan — April 18, 2013 — Australia & Pacific

    Thank you again,

    Donna

  • Paula McNally — April 24, 2013 — Australia & Pacific

The trip was wonderful!! . That resort is absolutely beautiful. We had good weather -- hot and humid. The people were very nice everywhere we went.

  • Marcia Nunn — April 01, 2013 — Australia & Pacific

Candace and I are back in Michigan today after a wonderful trip to New Zealand. You and she did a great job in organizing this trip. Couldn't have been better. In particular, the Wilderness Lodge is a very special place.

  • Cindy Burns — April 04, 2013 — Australia & Pacific

Miranda is the best, I would recommend her and we plan on contacting her in the future. The hotels were all excellent and the guides knowledge & Service were excellent

  • Sheila Black — April 08, 2013 — Australia & Pacific

We had the best time you could imagine and it was all based on your planning-thank-you so so much!!

Every hotel was located just where we would have wanted-all so lovely and we loved the buffet breakfasts!! The Grace is a beautiful hotel and everyone was very helpful-we could walk to the main areas and Darling Harbor and we just loved being in Sydney-Norm even got in a game of golf!! Every tour was wonderful. We are so glad you switched us from the large bus Blue Mountain tour to the boutique tour-we heard others talk of the Blue Mountain tour in that it was a long drive, crowded and they did not seem to have a great day. We LOVED our boutique tour-we had a super driver (Cliff)who really really tried to find every animal in the wild he could-we saw kangaroos, emu, wombats and even a koala-it was a wonderful day-we got back about 11;30 pm and because of that we saw so many of the nocturnal animals-he was so accommodating-just a great day!!

The Pullman in Cairns was just gorgeous-and we could walk to the water-we had a perfect(calm!!) day on the reef and we loved the trip to the rainforest-all in all a wonderful few days there. Our weather for the whole trip was also perfect!!! How did you do that!!??!!

We thank-you so much, Louise, for helping us-you take full credit for this holiday and we so often spoke of you there “thanks to Louise for another great day” we would say!! Every tour worked out perfectly-the flights were just great and the timing super-and we really felt you listened to what we ‘thought ‘ we wanted to do and you just seemed to know what would be right for us. We packed some Canada pins and tee shirts and gave them to our tour drivers and they seemed to love that!!

We came home happy and relaxed and so thankful-I will send you a few pictures for certain.

  • Josie Rodriguez — March 19, 2013 — Australia & Pacific

Thank you for all your help arranging a wonderful Australian tour for us. There was a lot of anxiety/reservation arranging a tour on line, not meeting the other person on the other line but it all ended well and we had a fantastic experience. Please thank also Ruby for us for arranging our domestic flights. The two of you did a very good job in coordinating/planning everything.

For sure I will use you again in our next trip which will be in September. We would like to go to St. Petersburg, Malta and Sicily.

    Again, thank you!
