The Hawaiki Nui Hotel is nestled lagoon-side in Tepua Bay, only 10 minutes from the main village Uturoa. This friendly hotel enjoys a nice view on the lagoon and two "motu" (islet). It offers a refined french and polynesian cuisine, a bar with entertainments, a swimming pool, and a dive center on site. With a range of Polynesian inspired rooms and bungalows to choose from - from Garden Rooms to Overwater Bungalows (the only ones of the island) - , there is something for everyone. The hotel is actually quite old but guests will receive a personalized and attentive service in a real polynesian atmosphere.
The island has the richest lagoon of the Society Islands thus providing truly amazing diving. There are over 30 dive sites between Raiatea and Taha'a. The underwater landscape wealth is enhanced by the "Nordby", a magnificient three-mast schooner that sank in 1900, and is located just in front the Raiatea Pearl Resort. The fauna has a lot of species and the underwater topography is very interesting with deep dives and caves. One particularity is the Distichopora coral, whom yellow and purple shaped highlight some part of the reef. It is a famous place for underwater photography.
Hawaiki Nui Hotel’s Garden Bungalows are located within the lush, tropical gardens, with only a short walk to the stunning Raiatea lagoon. Each bungalow features one king sized bed and one single bed. Enjoy the stunning view from your private lounge area, as you enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee after an action packed day exploring Raiatea Island. Our Raiatea hotel's Garden Bungalows combine traditional style with modern comfort. Rollaway beds and Baby cots are available at no extra charge and children under 15 years of age can share a room with adults at no extra cost.
Hawaiki Nui Hotel’s Overwater Bungalows stretch out far into the Raiatea Lagoon, offering the ultimate in privacy. The Overwater Bungalows are well appointed with a spacious terrace, a panoramic view of the surroundings and a direct access to the Raiatea Lagoon. Enjoy a cocktail on the terrace, overlooking the tropical turquoise water, perfect for a relaxing evening swim. Our Raiatea bungalow accommodation is simple yet comfortable. The water around the hotel's bungalows is about 6 meters deep.
The restaurant of the Raiatea Hawaiki Nui Hotel overlooks the fresh water swimming pool and the lagoon beyond. The seafood specialties and excellent cuisine have led to the restaurant's reputation as the finest on the island.
The hotel is host to a number of excursions, each of which is more tempting than the next. The two sister islands: Raiatea and Taha'a are unique in that they are two high islands trapped in an immense lagoon and protected by a common barrier reef. They offer 259 square kms of land to be explored on foot, on horseback or by jeep. Raiatea boasts the only navigable river in French Polynesia . . . the Apoo Ma'u in the Bay of Faaroa. Sacred Raiatea and Taha'a, the island of vanilla, are choice destinations for both snorkeling and scuba diving. There are more than 50 catalogued sites for both beginner and experienced divers alike. In addition to the spectacular coral drop offs, abundant underwater plant and animal life, there are several wrecks to visit, such as the Nordby, a 57 ton schooner (50m long) which sank in 1900 and can be found directly in front of the Raiatea Hawaiki Nui Hoteland is accessible from its boat docks.
