The popular fly-fishing destination, Ohinemuri River is a 25-minute drive away. Downtown Waihi is a 15-minute drive. Free private parking is provided.

Breakfast is included in your tarriff and includes plenty of fresh fruit and Marg's home made bread. Cooked breakfasts include French Toast with bacon and banana. Grilled hash with eggs and bacon or eggs with smoked salmon scrambled eggs. Farmers breakfast of which includes bacon,eggs,sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and hash. There is always complimentary fresh fruit and NZ cheeses. Try Marg's home baking to feel at home so help yourself to teas and coffees and drinks in the fridge, all complimentary. A delicious platter of olives, cheese, breads and dips can be provided. Dinners by prior arrangement when booking are available. A set menu is provided and usually includes locally produced beef or NZ lamb, fresh fish and home grown vegetables,when available.
Karangahake Gorge Walk. There is such a lot of mining history in the gorge and a variety of walks the famous windows walk which takes you through old mines shafts walking up one side of the river, across the swing bridge and down the other side learning about the mining histroy as you go. It is on State highway 2 but cross a bridge and you are in another world. Lunch at Ohinimuri Winery after your walk. Homunga - Waihi Beach Walk. This track can be tough in places, but rewarding for those who enjoy a bit more of a challenge.10km walk which takes you over farm land, along the rocky coast, past Orokawa Bay and on through bush to Waihi Beach. Spectacular in summer with the Pohutakawa trees in flower.
There are six golf courses within one hours drive from the lodge, ranging from country courses to international standard.
Poets Corner Lodge is an ideal venue for getting people together in a comfortable, relaxed setting. The staff will take care of the catering or orgainise your activities, giving you time to get on with the business you came for. Quiet retreat for those small business type meetings where you don't want to be interrupted. The corporate venue rooms comfortably caters for up to 8 people.
