Feel the warmth of the open fireplace, central to the large lounge and entertaining area. The Super King bed is positioned to capture the dramatic beauty of a sunrise on Mount Ngauruhoe. Soak in the large spa bath and sip champagne as the guest soak in the magnificent colours of sunset. The bathroom also has a separate shower, a double marble vanity and under-floor heating. Wrap up in a fluffy bathrobe and enjoy the TV with Sky TV Channels and a DVD player. The Te Heu Heu Suite also has a guest bathroom and a kitchen area. In the large living area, the soft glow of chandeliers creates a sensuous ambience and a large dining table is the ideal place for a meal.
The elegant McClaren Suite is located on the top floor of the historic Ruapehu Wing.

The McClaren Suite is furnished in warm tones that invite relaxation, is tastefully decorated in the style of a bygone era. The bedroom boasts a Super King Bed, and the ensuite is a full bathroom with a spa bath and separate shower. Ruapehu, the Chateau's signature restaurant, delivers the finest ambience and all the sophistication expected of the Chateau’s elegant traditions. The glow of chandeliers, the clink of wine glasses, service that is second-to-none and superb Pacific-Rim dining await you here. Executive Chef Nick Fergusson will mesmerize your taste buds with his culinary masterworks, like the highly-regarded Chateau Briand for two. Breakfast is also served daily in the Ruapehu Restaurant and is a veritable feast of cooked and continental selections. The Ruapehu Restaurant offers a rich and intimate dining experience. Suitable dress is required (no jeans or t-shirts) and reservations are essential.
Tuck into a delicious brunch or dinner at the Pihanga Café & T-Bar, open each day from 11.30 until late. Enjoy the sumptuous al fresco cuisine with great views of Mount Ruapehu, or relax with friends in the T-Bar after dark.

Challenge a friend to a friendly game of pool or snooker in the Ruapehu Lounge. Stay fit in the small fitness room which features a multi-station and cardio-training equipment. After your workout, relax a while in the sauna or take a dip in the heated plunge pool. Use of the Gym, Sauna and heated plunge pool are free for all Chateau Tongariro guests. The hotel's in-house cinema seats 60 people and shows three popular recent-release movies every day - at 6pm, 8pm and at 10pm. The daily 6 o’clock showing is always a family movie that the kids are bound to love. The Chateau Cinema is free for all guests to enjoy.
Boules are available also at reception for a languid game of Petanque, a game similar to lawn bowling. The playing pitch is located in the gardens at Fergusson’s Café, the beautifully-restored historic building just 50 meters from the main hotel. Order yourself a delicious lunch, a nice cool drink and then aim for that Cochonnet!
