Found in the far northeast region of Queensland, Cape Tribulation has long been a place for locals and travelers alike to escape to some of Australia's best-preserved forests, mangroves and beaches. In these wilds, however, lurk some of the deadliest creatures on Australia tours, including crocodiles and pythons.
Encompassing a wide range of flora, the Mount Sorrow ridge trail gives travelers access to many of the region's most prevalent tree types. The ridge itself is highlighted by acacia trees, while the valley below remains lush with thick vines and towering trees whose roots could be likened to elephant legs for their size and texture.
While many ancient groves remain intact on the Cape, some local forests are being regenerated. At the Bat House, visitors can visit both the onsite nursery for fruit bats and its surrounding regeneration forest, which explains how the vegetation is transitioning.
After a day in the woods, visitors can head to the coast for some fun in the waves. Myall Beach is marked by a vivid fringe of reef, providing visitors with a calm area to swim in the delectably warm waters.
