Costa Rica Active Adventure

Don’t lose a day to travel! Enjoy a great day of rafting on the way from San Jose to La Fortuna. A shared van will pick you up in San Jose and then you will raft some of Costa Ricas best whitewater, on the Pacuare river (Class 3/4 rafting). After your rafting trip we will drop you off in La Fortuna at about 06.30pm. Great way to save on transportation costs and time  in an adventurous way!

Waterfall repelling is known as "canyoning". You will be picked up from your hotel and begin your adventure with a 30-minute 4x4 drive into the tropical rain forest outside the town of La Fortuna, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. This adventure includes 5 rappels, 4 of which are alongside or right in waterfalls, and one dry rock face. After this sensational adventure you will return to the base camp to enjoy lunch. Return to the hotel after the tour has finished. You are required to be in good physical condition to participate. Morning departure, duration 4 hours approx.

Recommended list of items to bring: easy dry clothes, bathing suit, secure shoes (sports sandals and water shoes are best), change of clothing for after the tour and sunscreen.

You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the rainforest close to the Arenal Volcano. Enjoy a leisurely hike for 1.5 hours through the rainforest while your private guide offers the history of the Arenal Volcano. This park is located at the base of the Arenal Volcano and is filled with wildlife including monkeys, toucans, coati and a large variety of bird species. Conclude the tour at the Springs Resort - soak in the hot mineral baths and enjoy! After a soothing soak in the hot springs, enjoy a lovely dinner at The Springs Resort, prepared in a colonial style rustic kitchen. Enjoy the local cuisine - a true authentic experience. Return to your hotel in the evening after a delicious dinner (included in the tour cost).

The Rio Celeste hike is a journey through a mysterious and enchanting area. You will navigate through secondary and primary rainforest within the Tenorio National Park. It is wonderful opportunity to a observe a diverse range of plant and animal species. As the hike continues you will begin to hear the waters of the Rio Celeste. When you first see the river, the first thing you will notice is the blue hue of the water. The hike continues to wind along the banks of the Celeste river, the more up stream you hike the deeper the color of the water. As the hike continues you will reach the point where the clear Buena Vista and Roble rivers merge to form the blue waters of the Celeste river. It is an extraordinary site. The hike continues onto a wonderful waterfall along trails of the Tenorio National Park. Finally all the long hiking will be rewarded with a delicious meal (included) and fresh fruit. This hike is recommended for people in good physical condition; although not physically grueling it does require good health and stamina. Wear comfortable shoes and bring you camera, it is a great opportunity to document some of the wonders of the rainforest. (Includes roundtrip transporation from the hotel)

You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the embarkation point of the Peñas Blancas river. Enjoy a private, guided 2 hour safari style float trip down the lower Peñas Blancas river. The leisurely pace allows you to enjoy the tranquility of the rainforest immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of this tropical setting. Be sure to keep an eye out for monkeys, toucans, Jesus Christ Lizards, caimans, iguanas and a wide assortment of bird species (private guide/raft). Morning Departure, Duration 4 Hours (approximately)

When the night begins we are going to dive into the depths of our secondary forest to be able to see one of the most interesting natural shows that you can enjoy in the area of La Fortuna. Mammals like the Sloth (Bradypus tridactylus), Coatis (Nasua Larica), Fruit Bats (Artibeus jamaicensis), the impressive Owl with glasses (Pulsatrix perspicillata), and even the odd Stick Insect (Ctenomorpha Chronus) and others can be seen in their natural habitat. We will also observe over 15 species of frogs typical of a tropical rain forest, including the striking Red Eye Frog (Agalychnis callidryas). Your tour will include a visit to the frog pond and snake terrariums which are magically transformed into a very different setting ,than what is seen on the daytime tour.

Meet your driver for a private transfer to Lake Arenal. Board a motor boat and cross the lake while observing scenic views of the Arenal Volcano (45 mins). Private vehicle transfer to your hotel in Monteverde.

You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the tour starting point. Extremo canopy has one of the most beautiful views of the area all from a bird’s eye view flying through the treetops of the Monteverde Cloud Forest . You will get your adrenaline pumping when doing the big tarzan swing, the giant rappel, and feeling fantastic distance between each one of the cables that stretch across the canopy up to 2550 feet long and 450 feet high. Morning/Afternoon Departures, Duration 3 Hours (approximately) Return to the hotel after the tour.

You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the Monteverde Cloud forest. Explore the enchanted Monteverde Cloud forest with a set of expert eyes during this privately guided walk. Explore different trails in search of birds and mammals and discuss the amazing diversity of plants. Half day excursion (4 hrs).

Enjoy time at leisure in Monteverde. There are a plethora of optional activities you can pre-book to fill your time while in the cloud forest. Please let us know if you wish to add one of the following tours to your itinerary before you go (optional activities are an additional cost).
