Costa Rica Safari & Surf Special

You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Pan-American Highway towards the city of Alajuela. En route you will go to visit the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park. As you ascend towards the volcano you will stop for a brief explanation at the Golden Bean Coffee plantation. You will then continue through fern, flower and strawberry farms. There is a noticeable change in temperature and vegetation, which will prepare you for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest of Poas Volcano. At the Volcano you will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles. After visiting the volcano, we will have time to enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the typical Costa Rican restaurants of the area. Your next stop will be in beautiful Grecia. Considered one of the cleanest towns of Latin America, it is home of the only Metal Church in Central America and a national monument that fills its inhabitants with pride. In order to catch a glimpse of local lifestyle there will be a brief visit to the central market area. Your last stop is Sarchi, known as the Cradle of Costa Rican Artisans because of its fine workshops. Here you will have time to enjoy the artistic work of the local artisans as they create the famous typical oxcart and you will be able to shop for that special souvenir to take home. Morning Departure, Duration 6 Hours, Return to the hotel after the tour.

Don’t lose a day to travel! Enjoy a great day of rafting on the way from San Jose to La Fortuna.  A shared van will pick you up in San Jose and then you will raft some of Costa Ricas best whitewater, on the Balsa river (Class 2/3 rafting). After your rafting trip we will drop you off in La Fortuna.Great way to save on transportation costs and time  in an adventurous way! Minimum age required: 8 years old.

For more adrenaline, you might want to try rafting on the Pacuare or Toro rivers.

Waterfall repelling is known as "canyoning". You will be picked up from your hotel and begin your adventure with a 30-minute 4x4 drive into the tropical rain forest outside the town of La Fortuna, in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano. This adventure includes 5 rappels, 4 of which are alongside or right in waterfalls, and one dry rock face. After this sensational adventure you will return to the base camp to enjoy lunch. Return to the hotel after the tour has finished. You are required to be in good physical condition to participate. Morning departure, duration 4 hours approx.

Recommended list of items to bring: easy dry clothes, bathing suit, secure shoes (sports sandals and water shoes are best), change of clothing for after the tour and sunscreen.

You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the rainforest close to the Arenal Volcano. Enjoy a leisurely hike for 1.5 hours through the rainforest while your private guide offers the history of the Arenal Volcano. This park is located at the base of the Arenal Volcano and is filled with wildlife including monkeys, toucans, coati and a large variety of bird species. Conclude the tour at the Springs Resort - soak in the hot mineral baths and enjoy! After a soothing soak in the hot springs, enjoy a lovely dinner at The Springs Resort, prepared in a colonial style rustic kitchen. Enjoy the local cuisine - a true authentic experience. Return to your hotel in the evening after a delicious dinner (included in the tour cost).

The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge and the Rio Frío are humid areas considered to be among the richest in biological diversity in Costa Rica. Here you can find a great variety of resident and migratory birds, plus iguanas, sloths, turtles, caimans and three different species of monkeys. The tour starts when we pick up all “Nature Lovers” from the hotel in a very comfortable bus for the 1-½ hour transfer to Los Chiles, a culturally mixed village only 4 km from the Nicaraguan border. Here your boat waits for your river adventure, a 2 ½ hour floating safari through tropical rain forest and pasture.  An experienced English - Spanish speaking guide leads the tour. Some birds are residents in the area and it is possible to see hundreds of them, especially during the dry season.  Watch for anhinga (also called snakebird), wood storks, roseate spoonbill (which can often be seen feeding at the river’s edge), the jabiru - the largest bird in Central America and very endangered - and  the olivaceous cormorant, which makes its nest in the area. Along the river we can see howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white-faced monkeys, three-toed sloths, caimans, Jesus Christ lizards (named for its ability to run on water) and turtles.

This daytrip includes a typical Costa Rican lunch, regional fruit, natural juices and coffee, all served for your comfort at our new Restaurant Río Frío; canned drinks, natural juices, bottled water and cookies are also included during the boat tour. Departure: 7:30am. Approx. duration: 8 hours.

Meet your driver for a private transfer to Manuel Antonio. Along the way stop at the "crocodile bridge" to watch the local wildlife.

In the afternoon, enjoy some time on your own to relax.

You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Manuel Antonio National Park for a private, guided tour. This scenic park attracts over 160,000 people each year to its wide beaches with troops of monkeys that frequent the area. The park consists of mangrove swamps, primary rainforests and marshy woodlands and is bordered by the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a haven for over 100 mammal species including the highly endangered squirrel monkey, or mono titi. Morning/Afternoon Departures; Duration 3 Hours (approximately) When the tour is complete you will return to your hotel after the tour.

You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to one of the best surfing beaches in the area for a 4 hour surf lesson. Your pick-up time will depend on the tides to be sure that you will catch the best waves possible (the exact time and beach will be confirmed the night before by calling your hotel or immediately when you book your lesson).
