The Gran Hotel is located in the heart of downtown San Jose. Built in 1930, it is one the Costa Rica's most historic accommodations. In fact, it is the only hotel to in the entire nation to be named a Historical and Architectural Landmark. The five story hotel sits facing the Plaza de la Cultura and across the street from the National Theater.

The Gran offers 104 luxurious accommodations ranging from Superior rooms to Mater Suite. All offer antique reproduction furnishings and neo-classical decor along with satellite TV, AC, fan, private bathrooms, mini bar and views of the National Theatre and Plaza. The Suites range from having one or all of the following additions; a lobby, living room, dining room and private bedroom.
