Le Bergerac

This elegant Mediterranean-style boutique hotel provides a tranquil garden oasis only about one mile from bustling downtown San Jose and a short walk from the University. Originally one of the many mansions in upscale hilly Los Yoses, where western European diplomats reside, this hotel's first French-Canadian owners bought two more mansions and in 2006 constructed an additional building. All rooms are unique and come in four categories—standard, superior, deluxe and grande. All offer comfortable beds, locally crafted furniture and tropical decor with a French touch, such as in the prints on the walls and the wrought-iron outdoor furniture on the patios and balconies.
