Santa Clara is the capital city of the Cuban province of Villa Clara. It is located in central Cuba, 3 hours from Havana throught the National Highway. Santa Clara was founded in 1689 from the village Cubanacan. With the population over 300,000 Santa Clara is a pleasant university city in the center of the island, commercial center for minerals, sugarcane and cigar factories.
