The Lodge at Chichen Itza is as much a landmark as El Castillo, the towering pyramid of Equinox fame. The bungalows are clustered around trees, swimming pools and nature. The rooms are individual masterpieces whose appointments are handpicked from the work of local artisans. The generous use of rich, aged mahogany is enhanced by the addition of ethnic ceramics, textil ...es and artwork. Doors are intricately carved with Mayan motifs; stained glass windows set the rooms aglow with understated colors. The lodge at Chichen Itza sits on 100 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens in the heart of the archealogical park, with its own entrance to the Mayan temples. Clustered around secluded swimming pools, the 39 bungalows seem an extension of the gardens in which they are located. Built in traditional Mayan style with wood, stone, native marble and thatch, they were created for guests who wish to commune with nature and with the culture that rose to greatness here, 1000 years earlier.
