The Hotel Casa del Balam is one of the oldest and most distinguished hotels in Merida and the Yucatan Peninsula, known as the "grandmother" of all hotels is also one of the few Art Deco buildings that are still seen in this colonial city. Inside, decorative wrought iron accessories and thoughtfully placed rocking chairs create an ambience that is both festive and leisurely. Guestrooms are unusually spacious, sound-proof and appointed in the warm, colonial style found throughout the property.
Junior Suites have a King bed plus special amenities such as bathrobes and bath salts and coffeemaker. Each of the guest rooms have been carefully renovated to provide all the modern amenities, including air conditioning. The furnishings and decorations have been custom-designed to combine an ambiance of historical Yucatan with modern comfort and convenience.
Guestrooms are unusually spacious, sound-proof and appointed in the warm, colonial style found throughout the property. All rooms include full bathroom with hairdryer, servi-bar, radio, TV and phone.
Spacious and bright rooms with central air conditioning, telephone, color cable TV, soundproof windows, mini bar, hair dryer, bath and / or shower, hot and cold water. Most rooms have two double beds and only three have a queen bed. On request can be set aside rooms with balcony, smoking or non-smoking.
These three beautiful rooms used to be the family bedrooms and are all located in the oldest part of the building and preserved until today, the original period furniture. The Restaurant offers a superb choice of Yucatecan specialties; the less formal Patio Cafe Bar, looking out to the courtyard swimming pool, is a colorful bistro for simpler fare.
There is always something going on in downtown Merida. From Salsa dancing in Santa Lucia Park to concerts or opera at the theater to "Merida en Domingo" on Sundays. And at Hotel Casa del Balam, just walk out the front door and you're there!
