Casa Lecanda is a small luxury boutique hotel located within the historical center of Mérida, Yucatán. Built in a completely restored traditional Yucatecan home, the hotel has been designed to retain the original Meridian style with points of European luxury so prevalent in the golden age of Merida’s Sisal barons. A place guests can call home as they reach out and discover all the beauty and magnificence that the Yucatán Peninsula has to offer. Casa Lecanda offers seven distinct rooms uniquely decorated with custom crafted furniture, original clay tile floors, beautifully restored doors and windows. Rooms vary in layouts, sizes, bathrooms and patios to offer guests a complete experience of the Yucatecan home while providing all the amenities of a contemporary luxury hotel.
Situated in front of the tropical garden and swimming pool, these rooms feature Queen or King size beds, minibar, in-room safes, and are each uniquely decorated with the upmost attention to detail for the guest’s maximum comfort. The bathrooms feature a walk-in rain shower with skylights.
The balcony rooms are located on the second floor overlooking the entire home and gardens. Both Balcony rooms feature a wood deck with sitting area to enjoy the afternoon breeze and intimacy of the home. Each feature a king sized bed, sitting area and bathrooms offer a large walk-in rain shower.
The Garden Suites face a small tropical garden. These rooms are characterized by three archways which open up to an ample bedroom with a king size bed, a stone bathtub, walk-in rain shower, sitting area.
Warm and elegant, the Wine & Tequila Bar is an essential part of the Casa Lecanda experience. Featuring a fine selection of International & Mexican wines carefully selected to create a well-rounded collection from around the world. All served in the intimate setting of the welcoming bar lounge and pool patio. Guests can elect to accompany their selection with some of the delightful cheese plates and snacks.
The house is lived in the three distinct patios connected by the exterior gardens that run the length of the property. The first patio features a fountain surrounded by plants and palms, all enclosed in an original stone floor design. Three Neoclassical facades face this central patio and serve as the entry way to most of the living areas of the home. The second patio connects the day area from the rooms with elegant stone and marble archways that blend with the tropical vegetation and white waters of the pool, an ideal setting to mitigate the tropical climate. The third and last patio is nestled under antique French tiles featuring authentic Meridian hammocks which characterize authentic local traditions of Yucatán living, a perfect place to enjoy the warm afternoons.
