Those who visit Iberotel Aswan do so mainly to marvel at the two massive temples of Abu Simbel on the shores of lake Nasser, the massive man-made reservoir formed after the completion of the Aswan Dam. The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Rameses II in the 13th century BC as a monument to himself and his queen Nefertari to commemorate his victory over the Nubians at the Battle of Kadesh. In an engineering feat as impressive as the construction of the dam itself, the temples were relocated block by block to an artificial hill high above the Aswan Dam reservoir in the 1960’s to avoid them being submerged during the creation of Lake Nasser. If you prefer a more contemporary pursuit, Iberotel Aswan offers a variety of distractions, including a swimming pool with an integrated kid's pool, floodlit tennis court, a fully equipped Health Club and Gym with sauna, jacuzzi, steam rooms and massage parlours.
