Previously the site of the Maharajah of Alwar’s hunting lodge and pleasure garden, Amanbagh lies in a verdant oasis, fed by a nearby lake. It is a refined palatial-style mansion, a unique latter day haveli, architecturally faithful to the impressive, imperial Moghul dynasty. Guests are invited to experience kingly hotel stay at the 48 gorgeous suites. Some of the guestrooms offer enchanting views of surrounding garden or the swimming pool. All of the guestrooms are beautifully designed in complete harmony with the sights and sounds of nature. Offering an exquisite dining experience, the hotel owns an upscale restaurant offering both Indian and continental dishes. The hotel spa offers a variety of healing therapies, treatments and massages to revitalize your health and beauty.
On the edge of Rajasthan’s Aravalli Range, designed in evocative haveli mansion style, using resplendent soft sandstone and pale pink marble, rests the regal home of Amanbagh. Enwalled within a verdantly lush oasis fed by a nearby lake and tributaries of the Chambal River, the glorious setting was once the site of the Maharajah of Alwar’s hunting lodge, and favoured garden retreat. Amanbagh evokes the cultural richness, the princely pleasures, and the romantic interludes of the Moghul era. Inner sanctums are sculptured with palatial elegance, where every detail has been interpreted in honor of the shimmering halcyon ancestry of India’s golden age.
Amanbagh is designed with an aesthetic eye and pays homage to its princely heritage and historical landscape, culminating in a contemporary sanctuary entwined in the luxuriant spoils of a rural setting. The evocative moods of its grand ‘Moghul’ past are portrayed in the sandstone cupolas and inner courtyards with serene soft pink marble featured extensively. Amanbagh’s 24 Haveli Suites and 16 Pool Pavilions exude the richness of the Moghul era that inspired them: set in a lush oasis of verdant wooded foliage, there is also a striking and refreshing 33m pool which is heated in the cooler months as well as a large wading pool. At night the geometric lines of the resort are defined by the atmospheric incandescence while the pools reflections’ dance to the sway of the palms and aromatic eucalyptus trees under a pristine starlit sky. Eight Courtyard Haveli Suites are located on the ground level of two dwellings on either side of the swimming pool. The entrance to each is via a courtyard with an outdoor dining area. Inside, there is a living area with a large banquette, two armchairs and a writing desk. Beyond is a private courtyard. The adjacent bedroom has a soaring domed ceiling and king-size bed whilst the bathroom is filled with natural light from windows facing the court. Each Courtyard Haveli Suite is fitted with a sound system and personal bar. Located on the ground level are eight Garden Haveli Rooms. Identical in design and furnishings to the Courtyard Haveli Suites, they are differentiated by a private terrace that overlooks a garden. Eight Terrace Haveli Suites are located on the upper level of the two dwellings. Access to each is via a staircase that leads to private terraced courtyards, each with an outdoor dining area and two sun loungers. Inside, a sitting area is fitted with a daybed, two armchairs, and a writing desk. The bedroom offers a king-size bed and a large natural light-filled bathroom with bathtub and separate dressing room. Each Terrace Haveli Suite is fitted with a sound system and personal bar. Sixteen Pool Pavilions are located on the perimeter of the resort and offer their own private swimming pool and spacious garden. Entry to each Pavilion is via a garden courtyard that leads to a foyer passageway. The foyer provides access to the shared living area and bedroom on one side and to the bathroom on the other. The living area contains a king-size bed, writing desk, daybed for lounging, sound system and personal bar. The bathroom features a spacious dressing area, twin vanities, separate shower and a bathtub, carved from one piece of marble, located in the centre of the room under a domed ceiling. Double doors open from both the living area and bathroom onto the spacious garden courtyard, featuring a covered dining and lounge area. The private swimming pool measures three metres by nine metres and is cool throughout the summer months and heated during the winter months.
The Restaurant is positioned on the lower floor of the main building and provides an intimate atmosphere beneath its double-height ceiling. Seating is either banquette-style or at tables which flow onto the outside terrace. The food is simple, home-style, Indian cuisine with a choice of Western dishes also available. An alternative, informal dining venue is next to the swimming pool. Here, the dining is outdoors beneath a covered colonnade. The Library Terrace, located on the upper floor of the main building, is ideal for informal dining in the evening, particularly during the hotter months when a cool breeze may be enjoyed under a starlit sky. The Bar and Salon is located opposite the Restaurant and offers a cosy place to relax and unwind. The Roof Terrace, which is elevated above a canopy of trees and provides sweeping views over the surrounding landscape, is another option for dining and refreshments.
A team of highly-skilled therapists provides a range of healing therapies as well as more traditional treatments such as facials, massages and scrubs. These are available in the resort's spa treatment rooms or in guest havelis. The Swimming Pool is centered within the resort's gardens. Light meals and snacks are available poolside throughout the day. Beyond the swimming pool is the wading pool. Both pools remain cool throughout the summer and are heated during the colder months. The Spa at Amanbagh provides a complete wellness experience with Yoga, Qigong, Meditation and Reiki for all levels of experience. Here, highly-skilled therapists provide a range of healing therapies as well as facials, massages, scrubs and traditional henna art.
