Housed in a heritage building right in the historical center of Fort Kochi, The Malabar House faces St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. It is the first Heritage Hotel in South India to be classified as a Heritage Classic Hotel by the Government of India. Step out into history. The Malabar House is in the heart of historical Fort Cochin, opposite St. Francis Church and 3 minutes walk to the Chinese fishing nets. It is ideally located for sightseeing, shopping and backwater cruises. Jew town with its vast curio & antique market is 3 km away; the Vembanad lake just an hours drive. The distance to Cochin Airport is 45 km.
The 17 luxurious guestrooms and suites in the hotel are replete with heritage value and antique trimmings. A selected collection of contemporary artwork and handicrafts have been incorporated beautifully with the modern amenities.
The Malabar Junction – A superb, open-sided restaurant in the garden. Known throughout India for its exceptional food (probably the best pasta in India!). The seafood is the best in this region. It offers Mediterranean, Indian and local cuisine. Ask for the menu selection of Indian wines. When full, the hotel offers a ‘buffet’ service for breakfast. Other meals are from the seasonal menu plus daily market menu on a la carte. Smoking is allowed.
Entertainment: The Malabar House offers its own program of cultural performances on the ancient stage in the Hotel patio. Ayurvedic Wellness Spa: Kalaripayattu, the ancient martial art of Kerala has a scientific system of treatment and massage based on Ayurveda. This Kalari massage is a powerful rejuvenation therapy.
