Sand Dunes at Sam
(42 km) The sifting sands of the dunes at Sam, on the edge of the Desert National Park, relentlessly moving and changing are a breathtaking sight and the sunsets there, are particularly spectacular.
The three-day Desert Festival in January attracts a great deal of visitors. The evening entertainment includes captivating performances by snake charmers, puppeteers, folk dancers and musicians and camel races & camel polo are also on the festival agenda. The culmination of the festival takes place around campfires that burn till dawn at the sand dunes in Sam, where most of the festivities take place.
(16 km) Ancient capital of Jaisalmer. Its complex of splendid Jain temples makes it both a tourist attraction and an important Jain pilgrim centre.
