Set amongst woodland overlooking a lake, Shergarh Tented Camp provides tented accommodation at the southern edge of the pristine Kanha Tiger Reserve. The resort is owned and managed by Jehan Bhujwala and his British wife Katie. The accommodation is in the form of cosy tents that are individually spaced inside a wooded grove to provide privacy. Each has a large front veranda and a large attached bathroom with piping hot showers. Tiled roofs house each tent and water coolers provided in the hot months to ease off rising temperatures. Tents are not luxurious but very comfortable with attached private facilities. Personal attention from both Jehan and Katie makes the clients satisfied by the end of their stay.
Shergarh Tented Camp is located four kilometres from the Mukki (southern) entrance to Kanha Tiger Reserve. Shergarh is the creation of naturalist Jehan Bhujwala and his English wife Katie, whose aim is to ensure a personalised and specialised wildlife experience to every guest.
Shergarh accommodates up to 12 guests in six cosy tents, each with its own bathroom and verandah. Wholesome Indian and Continental food prepared from home-grown vegetables, local produce and fish farmed from the lake is served in the Main House.
Shergarh Tented Camp offers accompanied game drives within the core area of the reserve to view the diverse range of wildlife, early morning bird walks are a great opportunity to explore Kanha's jungle on foot, cycling through the forest for a swim in the Banjar river is a satisfying activity for the warmer months - rewarded with afternoon tea on the rocks, visiting a local village on market day is a unique opportunity to experience traditional trading and bustling rural life, enjoying a riverside picnic en-route and pre-dinner slide shows provide a concise and informative documentation of Kanha's wildlife and people.
