Amman
Experience Roman ruins, legendary biblical sites, bustling bazaars, tranquil beaches and the lost city of Petra on this epic adventure through the exotic highlights of Jordan. Tour Amman, Petra and the Dead Sea and travel back in time as you discover exotic souks, ancient mosques, the towering Ayyubid castle at Ajloun and the majestic Roman ruins of Jerash. Afterwards voyage to take in one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Petra, "a rose-red city half as old as time.” Carved into the mountain cliffs thousands of years ago it continues to enchant travelers to this day. Head into the heart of the desert to experience a vast, silent place, timeless and starkly beautiful. Next it’s off to the Dead Sea for rest and relaxation at a luxurious resort. While not enjoying the healing properties of its tranquil waters you’ll take a tour of Bethany Beyond the Jordan and the Dead Sea Museum. Featuring delicious traditional cuisine, driver, vehicle, all transfers, stylish hotels, 24/7 Kensington support and much more. This itinerary is based on a per person package price with Marriott properties. Therefore, it cannot be customized.
NOTE: This itinerary involves private touring with local guides. Travel in Egypt and Jordan often involves early-morning starts, designed to avoid crowds and the hottest midday hours. It can be hot, especially in June, July and August, but there is virtually no humidity and evening temperatures cool off dramatically. Egypt and Jordan are moderate secular states, well used to hosting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. While you ll want to avoid revealing clothing, loose shorts and short-sleeved shirts are fine for both genders while sightseeing.

Day 2: Amman
A Jordanian Tourism tax will be paid on your behalf to cover public liability insurance on equipment such as Jeeps, camels and horses.
The marvels of nature and the genius of medieval Arab military architecture have given northern Jordan two of the most important ecological and historical attractions in the Middle East: the sprawling pine forests of the Ajloun-Dibbine area, and the towering Ayyubid castle at Ajloun, which helped to defeat the Crusaders eight centuries ago.
Jerash, located 48 km north of Amman and nestled in a quiet valley among the mountains of Gilead, rivals the grandeur of Imperial Rome being one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the World outside Italy. To this day, its paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theaters, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates remain in exceptional condition. Enjoy visiting the sites in the company of your Driver-Guide.

Petra
Petra Marriott
Day 3: Amman - Dead Sea - Petra
Avail of a transfer to Petra with a private vehicle and driver.
According to Jewish and Christian tradition, Moses was buried on this mountain by God himself, and his final resting place is unknown. Scholars continue to dispute whether the mountain currently known as Nebo is the same as the mountain referred to in the Torah. Madaba’s most famous site is the Mosaic map in the 19th century Greek Orthodox St George’s Church. Unearthed 1864, the mosaic was once a clear map with 157 captions (in Greek) of all major biblical sites from Lebanon to Egypt. The mosaic was constructed AD 560 & once contained more than 2 million pieces; only 1/3 of the whole now survives.
The Siq Al-Barid (Little Petra) is located to the north of Petra, only a 10 minute drive away. A classical temple stands guard outside the miniature siq which would appear to have been an important suburb of the city of Petra, situated at the point where several ancient caravan routes met, linking Wadi Araba with Gaza, Egypt and the Mediterranean coast. The narrow file, only some 350 m long, is crammed with tombs, temples, triclinia, houses, water channels and cisterns. The surrounding area is picturesque and fun to explore.

Al Khazneh or The Treasury
Day 5: Petra
Petra is the treasure of the ancient world, and the rock-carved rose-red city is full of mysterious charm. Indeed, it was "designed to strike wonder into all who entered it". Petra is the legacy of the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2,000 years ago. Admired then for its refined culture, massive architecture and ingenious complex of dams and water channels, this remarkable city of grand buildings carved into massive cliffs evokes wonder to this day.

Travel tips of Jordan
VISA/PASSPORT
A passport and a visa are required for both US and Canadian citizens. Jordan issues visas to Americans for a fee at most international ports of entry and at most international land border crossings upon arrival. Processing generally takes 2-3 working days along with a visa processing fee of approximately $50 a for single-entry visa, $70 for a double-entry visa and $130 for a multiple-entry visa. However, visas are not issued upon arrival at the land border crossing between Israel and Jordan known as the King Hussein Bridge crossing. (On the Israeli side, this crossing is known as the Allenby Bridge.) U.S. citizens must already be in possession of a valid visa to Jordan or have a special entry permit from the Jordanian Ministry of Interior to enter Jordan at this crossing. Proof of yellow fever immunization is required if arriving from an infected area. Some HIV/AIDS entry restrictions exist for visitors to and foreign residents of Jordan. Jordan does not permit entry or residency for foreign nationals with HIV/AIDS. Travelers known to have HIV are denied entry at ports of entry, including land border crossings.
Please note obtaining a visa is your responsibility. These requirements change often and therefore it is best that you check with the Embassy of Jordan for the most up to date visa information.
