Surrounded by pristine Nature, with gurgling mountain springs forming natural boundaries on either side, the Begnas Lake Resort spans a whole hillside of unspoilt forestland. To the North and the North-East are the great Himalayan snowy peaks, below which lie terraced paddy fields and the tranquil Begnas Lake, lending a perfect picture frame for the window of every guestroom. Surrounding the resort area are Chestnut, Orange and other fruit bearing trees interspersed by bushes of Coffee, Cardamom and flowering plants. The entire resort breathes of pure, unadulterated Nature. In this healing and life-nourishing environment, the resort has established the Himalayan Nature Spa that offers a wide range of classical Ayurvedic treatments as well as soothing and rejuvenating massages conducted by an experienced team of Ayurveda experts from Kerala.
There are 32 Deluxe Rooms, 4 Deluxe Lakefront Cottages and 2 Luxury Suites all built close to the water’s edge with views of the magnificent countryside and the mighty snow-clad Himalayan peaks. All rooms are spacious and built in ethnic Gurung style stone-houses. Guestrooms are temperature controlled and tastefully appointed in teakwood, terracotta and cane. All bathrooms are large, attached and done in rough stone and slate with running hot and cold water.
The Jimire restaurant offers a wide choice of delectable cuisines from the Continent as also from the Orient and the Himalayas. The large Sun-Terrace comfortably accommodates those who enjoy dining in the open. The Kodo bar as also the poolside Saili-Maili are well-stocked with choicest foreign and local liquors and will serve your favourite snacks and a selection of beers and cocktails. Guests following Ayurvedic treatments can choose to dine from a range of vegetarian Ayurvedic dishes. Seasonal fruit juices and Ayurvedic herbal drinks are available throughout the day. Most vegetables, spices and herbs are grown within the resort premises using organic farming methods.
Ayurveda is an ancient medical science from the Indian sub-continent that addresses the same spectrum of mental and physical disorders as modern medicine by creating harmony between the Body, Soul and Mind. Take a refreshing dip in the stone swimming pool. The water here comes from a nearby mountain spring. To ensure the guests’ safety and comfort the resort has its own boats ranging from 4-seaters to 12-seaters. The bigger boats are built in “Shikara” style and have colourful canopies on top for protection against the sun and rain.
