When most people consider a tour of India, their first thoughts are likely of crowded marketplaces in bustling cities. While that may be true in some parts of the country, it is certainly not the case in Khajjiar. Located in the northwest corner India, the small town is home to lush green meadows and dense forests.
Sometimes known as mini Switzerland, Khajjiar serves as a stark contrast to much of India, largely because it offers natural beauty rather than the historic and architectural appeal of the other sites. In fact, the town is ideal if you're looking to explore the varied landscape for the area.
Among the most frequently visited spots in the town is Khajjiar Lake. The body of water is surrounded by evergreen cedar trees, and you can often see tourists walking along its banks and stands about 6,300 feet above sea level. Other popular destinations in Khajjiar include the Khajji Nag temple, which traces its roots back to the 1200s and is located just a short distance from the lake.
Of course, there's more to Khajjiar than just enjoying its natural landscape. The town is also home to a beautiful nine-hole golf course, while others enjoy going horseback riding.
