Located on the extreme southern tip of Croatia, the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik is one of the hottest new destinations in the Adriatic. The prosperity of the city has always been a product of their rich maritime trade. In the Middle Ages, Dubrovnik was known as the Republic of Ragusa. It quickly became the only eastern Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Supported by its wealth and skilled diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. Explore the region with an expert guide and private driver & vehicle. Discover the historic old city, visit Cavtat and spend a day in nearby Montenegro and Kotor. Combine the best lodging and sights and give yourself the freedom to tour all day, with the option to have your guide start and finish as late as you like.
Private touring means you run the itinerary - it doesn't run you. Relax with 24/7 support from the Kensington team.
A transfer between the airport and the city or your hotel with a private vehicle and driver is provided.
A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.
Enjoy a half day walking tour of Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful stone-built cities in the world. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dubrovnik owes its special charm to the historic monuments that testify to its rich history. While strolling down Stradun, the main street, you will get to stop and visit the Franciscan Monastery of the “Order of Friars Minors” that preserves one of the three oldest pharmacies in Europe. Continue down to Orlando Column and the Sponza Palace and visit the Church of St. Blasius, the patron-saint of the town. Discover Rector’s Palace and the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary and its treasury. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore this stunning town on your own. We recommend you to take a walk along the city walls, visit one of the numerous museums or take a funicular ride to the top of the Srđ hill. Entrance fees to Franciscan Monastery, Recto'rs Palace, and Cathedral of the Virgin Mary are included.
During a six hour private guided tour today you will get to tour of the Dubrovnik Hinterland – the region of Konavle.
Meet your private driver and guide in the hotel lobby and relax on the drive to the ancient Mediterranean town of Cavtat. After a 7th century invasion destroyed the town, refugees from the Cavtat formed another settlement, Dubrovnik. Your guide will take you for a stroll through this picturesque little town and up to the top of the hill where you will discover the extraordinary Mausoleum of the Račić Family.
After the walk, continue your exploration of the traditional countryside of Konavle. In the village of Čilipi, a local family will welcome you at their humble estate that has a small ethno-museum presenting Konavle's history, a tavern with a wine cellar, and a variety of agricultural buildings. While you enjoy their hospitality, they will serve a traditional lunch.
After lunch, you will be brought back to Dubrovnik. Entrance fees and lunch are included.
This morning meet your driver in the hotel lobby for a private transfer to Montenegro – a mystical land of wild beauties. Your local guide will welcome you at the borderline of Croatia and Montenegro. In Boka Bay, the only fiord in the Mediterranean, mountains sink in the crystal-clear sea in front of your eyes in the unique harmony of intact nature and cultural heritage, that is today yours to discover.
Your first destination is the old town of Perast, a sleepy baroque place on the seashore. The strong merchant navy tradition represents the best preserved baroque entity in the Adriatic. The most beautiful buildings of this small town were built in the 17th and 18th centuries. At that time seafaring was growing and captains built magnificent villas that even today capture you with their beauty. Perast also abounds in sacred monuments, such as the Church Sveti Nikola and Our Lady of the rocks, built on the artificial island just opposite of Perast.
Following your visit to Perast, your guide and driver will take you to Kotor, home-town of the famous sailors and traders of Boka Bay. Kotor’s architecture, a post-modern mix of the various epochs and its position at the bottom of the sharp cliffs of the Lovcen Mountain, makes it different from any other Mediterranean town. Your guide will take you to the Cathedral of St. Trifun, a monument of Roman culture and one of the most recognizable symbols of the town. You will also visit the Maritime Museum, the custodian of Boka navy fame. Here, among other things, you can admire portraits of the famous captains, models of old galleys and sail boats and other very valuable exponents of the rich heritage of Kotor.
Continue to Budva, considered to be one of the oldest settlements in the Balkans. According to Greek mythology, Cadmo, the son of the Phoenician King Agenon, established Budva. After his expulsion from Thebes, Cadmo arrived in this area by ox-drawn cart, and founded Budva. This ancient town lies on a little island that was linked to land by a sandbar and in time became a peninsula. Your guide will take you for a walk around the 15th century ramparts and medieval fortifications. Inside the walls, you will find the town to be a combination of narrow streets and little squares, with superb monuments of the different Mediterranean cultures.
After the tour you will say goodbye to your guide and continue with your driver back to Dubrovnik.
Enjoy time at leisure to explore at your own pace, or relax at your hotel.

"Melissa Field was extremely helpful! She was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly! She kept me updated on the status of everything and provided timely correspondence. She took ownership for any problems I had and remedied them. I had the most amazing time of my life in Iceland and Paris! I would not have experienced everything without the help of Kensington Tours."

"All of our guides were beyond fabulous! Our time in Dublin was much too short, would have loved to stay there at least one more full day. Would recommend extending this package to 15 days for any future visits. The train to Edinburgh was super! Beautiful scenery and great steak pies!"

"Overall, our tour in Spain was very enjoyable, and well planned and executed. Our private tour of the Alhambra was excellent. Virginia, tour guide for royal palace ruins outside of Cordoba, was also excellent. In Seville, we went to the Flamenco Show/dinner, and the Flamenco was outstanding!"

"My husband and I took a 3 week vacation to southern Europe and North Africa and had a great time. All the guides were very knowledgeable and bent over backwards to accommodate us. The arrangements made by Kensington went off without a hitch. This is our second trip with Kensington (we went to Peru in 2009) and we will certainly book with them again."

"Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "

"We just returned from a 10 day trip to Paris and Normandy. We spent three nights in Paris and then enjoyed a seven night cruise on the Seine to Normandy with AMA Waterways. The time in Paris was well spent and has piqued our interest to return for a more thorough visit. Guide Wafaa Lankey was superb in our visit to Versailles. The Seine cruise was relaxing and beautiful. So many wonderful little towns and we wished we had more time in each one to explore and enjoy.
We traveled to Croatia and Slovenia using Kensington earlier this year which was a fantastic trip."
