From fjords with tall mountains and glaciers to urban cities rich in history, Scandinavia is sure to surprise visitors with its cultural diversity, cheerful locals and hidden gems around every corner. On this 15-day journey from Sweden to Denmark you travel through spectacular, wild and stunning scenery to learn more about the region’s Viking heritage, whilst also enjoying a smorgasbord of delicious local cuisine and staying in authentic charming accommodation.
Small group tours typically depart on June 2nd, June 30th, July 28th, August 25th and September 22nd, 2014 and are guaranteed with a minimum of 4 participants. In general, the maximum group size is 18.

Leaving Stockholm, your first visit today is to Sigtuna, once the capital of Sweden and idyllically located by Lake Malaren with its quaint old houses and many local handicraft shops. After some time here to explore this picturesque medieval town you continue to Uppsala, the original Viking capital of Sweden. Later you visit the makers of wooden Dalecarlia horses in Nusnes before driving to Mora, situated on the shores of Lake Siljan.
Best Western Mora Hotell & Spa is located within walking distance from museums, art galleries, shopping, the beautiful Lake Siljan, skiing, bear park, and much more. Hotel facilities include: High Speed Internet, fitness center, pool, restaurant, hot tub, room service.
Today you drive through forestclad landscapes and cross over into Norway. After visiting Maihaugen, one of northern Europe’s largest open air museums depicting Norwegian farm life over several centuries, you will continue to Sjusjoen, a tranquil town, surrounded by forest, mountain terrain and sparkling lakes.
Rustad Hotell & Fjellstue is a hotel with an excellent atmosphere. The old, log-walled interior conveys the atmosphere, while guests can be sure of enjoying a high standard of modern comfort. 46 rooms, all with shower/WC, TV and telephone. Hotel facilities include table tennis, billiards, 2 saunas and first-class ski service. Mountain air sharpens the appetite, and the buffet lunch and their 3-course dinner are among the highlights of the day.
Driving through the Gudbrands Valley you reach Lom, where you will visit the 12th century wooden stave church. Later continue to your accommodation in Grotli, a carefully preserved mountain lodge dating back to the 1870s.
The first generation of Grotli folk headed here in 1880 to run what was then a state mountain lodge, built ten years earlier as part of the roadbuilding across the mountains from Skjåk to Stryn and Geiranger. Once the roads were completed, Grotli became a communications hub at the crossroads between east and west, with a post office, telephone exchange and bus interchange – and the hotel was constructed between 1903 and 1905. The oldest, original part of the hotel still welcomes guests with its cosy sitting room, bar and dining rooms.
Today’s journey takes you towards the spectacular Norwegian fjords. Visit the Dalsnibba Summit, which offers wonderful views over the UNESCO World Heritage listed Geirangerfjord. Later cruise along the Geirangerfjord, passing the famous Seven Sisters Waterfall, then return to Grotli.
Start your day by visiting Briksdal Glacier one of the most accessible and best known arms of the Jostedalsbreen glacier. At the famous glacier arm of Briksdal, set attractively between roaring waterfalls and high peaks, you travel by ‘Troll car’ to within 700 metres of the glacier. After the tour continue your drive towards Balestrand where you will overnight in the next two days.
In Balestrand, beautifully located beside the Sognefjord, lies Kviknes Hotel. The Kvikne family have been the hosts here since 1877. The hotel was built in the “Swiss” style. There have been many new buildings, reconstructions and extensions since, but none of this has altered the special character of this place. Kviknes is now a modern hotel with old-world charm and atmosphere and with 190 guest rooms is one of the largest tourist hotels in Norway. The hotel is graced with an extensive collection of artworks and antiques, which give it its special style.
Explore Fjærland, situated on the beautiful and majestic Fjærlandsfjord. After a visit to the award-winning Norwegian Glacier Museum travel to the foot of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, the largest on the European Continent.
This morning you will travel across the Sognefjord, the deepest and longest in Norway, to the idyllic village of Undredal to taste the local goat's cheese. After some free time in Flam, you will embark on an incredible journey aboard the Flam Railway, one of the world's steepest railway lines. Later you drive to Voss, a small town at the end of Vangsvatnet Lake.
Fleischer’s Hotel is a modern hotel in Voss. However, it is rich in tradition. Built in 1889 in the then popular Swiss style, the hotel quickly became popular with well-to-do tourists around the turn of the 19th century. Today, Fleischer’s Hotel has 110 rooms with a total of 210 beds. The hotel has a fully-licensed bar and restaurant, where you can try the local cuisine. The hotel also has a swimming pool with a children`s pool, jacuzzi, sauna and solarium.
Drive along Hardangerfjord to visit a family owned exhibition dedicated to Norwegian fish farming. Next explore Bergen to see the picturesque fish markets and the UNESCO-protected old Hanseatic Wharf at Bryggen. In Voss, a small town at the end of Vangsvatnet Lake that has attracted kings and emperors, artists and composers for centuries, enjoy an evening at leisure.
Today’s journey takes you from Voss towards the spectacular Norwegian fjords. You will stop at Voringsfossen, Norway's most famous waterfall, before passing through a changing landscape of forests and lakes as you drive to your hotel situated in Holmenkollen.
Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica is located in peaceful and quite surroundings overlooking the city of Oslo. This morning take a guided tour of Norway’s capital including the Viking Ship Museum, the Norwegian Folk Museum and Frogner Park.

After an afternoon at leisure, you will board the overnight ferry to Copenhagen.

"People do not know what they are missing by not going to Romania. The landscape: beautiful, clean, untouched. The people: People exceeded friendly! Super safe. Wherever we went, we received the reception of "Welcome, welcome! You are our guest", by everyone. Food & Drink: Everything had such incredible flavor! "Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Our time in Dubrovnik and Split were awesome, in hind sight we both wished we would have went back to Split from Plitvice Lakes rather than carry on to Zagreb. We both found Split much more appealing and would have definitely preferred to spend another night there rather than Zagreb. We’ll know for next time! Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "
