Best Western Penmere Manor Hotel is a home away from home for many of the guests who get away from it all for regular and frequent visits. Peaceful and relaxing is the most common appraisal of the hotel. The comfort of the guests and their feeling of being welcome is paramount. All the staff, friendly yet unobtrusive, give professional and courteous service throughout. Since June 2008 when The Moore family purchased the hotel, many improvements have been made. These include landscaping of the gardens, refurbishment of the restaurant and function rooms, staff development and training to ensure the service and facilities meet the high standards demanded today by discerning guests. All this effort has been rewarded, for in July 2008 the AA increased the hotel's percentage rating to 79%, its highest ever, and awarded a Rosette for fine dining to the Restaurant!
A comfortable night's sleep is an essential part of staying away from home and we will do everything we can to ensure the room is right for the guests. Housekeeping take pride in their work, to ensure the rooms are clean, tidy and inviting. All of the 37 rooms are ensuite and we have a range of rooms to suit single occupancy, doubles and family rooms for four, with bunk beds for the children. There are a number of deluxe doubles for extra room and comfort, both in the oldest part of the main house and the garden rooms. A number of the standard and deluxe rooms are easily accessible with a wheelchair. All rooms are tastefully decorated and have digital TV channels and facilities to make the own hot drinks. Relax with the feet up and a nice cup of tea before emerging refreshed and invigorated to continue the stay. If guests do need to keep up with work whilst away, free wireless internet connection is accessible accross the hotel, including all public areas and every bedroom.
The menu changes seasonally and the restaurant is open to non-residents. It was awarded 1 AA Rosette for fine dining in July 2008. Cornwall boasts some of the richest fishing waters and a huge variety of fresh seasonal fish is landed daily at Newlyn and other ports around the Cornish coast. The hotel chef prides himself on offering such fantasic qulaity fish, landed locally and served at its freshest. Falmouth has the last remaining fleet of working boats, trawling for oysters in Falmouth Bay under sail. Locally harvested mussels and scallops are always on the menu, fresh from the sea. For meat lovers the hotel offers a seasonal selection of locally reared beef and game as well as white meat. Vegetarian and special dietary options are always made to order and the extensive and well-managed wine list compliments the wide variety of dishes prepared by the chef. Live music is played during the summer, so relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Penmere Leisure Club comprises an indoor heated swimming pool, a sauna, jaccuzi and a well equipped small gymnasium. Weather permitting, between the end of April and the beginning of October there is also a heated outdoor pool set in an ancient walled garden. The indoor pool has a UV water filter, rather than chlorine which is of particular benefit to those with delicate skin or eye conditions. The club is open to hotel guests, and non residents on a membership basis. It is not open to the general public and retains an air of tranquility and exclusivity.
