Macdonald Swan Hotel (3*) was built in 1650 as a coaching inn, and mentioned in a Wordsworth poem "The Waggoner", The Swan Hotel, Grasmere is one of the oldest in the Lake District. Nestled in the Cumbrian countryside, with views across the Fells, the cosy and inviting hotel is ideal for walkers and cyclists. With open sunny vistas in summer and blazing log fires in winter, it's the ideal base for exploring the wonders of the Lake District National Park. Afterwards, relax with a delicious meal in the restaurant or enjoy the convivial atmosphere of the Walkers' Bar before retiring to a traditionally - furnished, comfortable room.
After the day exploring the Lake District, relieve tired muscles with a long soak in the bathtub. Watch TV from the comfort of the bed, then sleep soundly in a comfortable Classic Room at the historic Swan Hotel.
After a pre-dinner drink in the Walkers' Bar, enjoy a candlelight meal of tempting British dishes in the Waggoner's Restaurant. In the morning, set up for the day with a delicious, hearty breakfast.
The Walkers' Bar is a haven for walkers and locals. Sit by the open fire for a comforting meal from the British menu. Enjoy the bar's genial atmosphere and, in summer, soak up the sunshine in the secluded beer garden.
