England is a wondrous dichotomy. In one sense, it is a country determined to keep its traditions and revere its own millennial history. In another, it is a nation on the cutting edge of art, fashion and all things culturally significant.

From soaring medieval cathedrals to the latest postmodern structures, from prehistoric Stonehenge to Regency Bath, from one-pub Cotswold villages to London's buzzing eateries, your time in Southern England will have you experiencing both sides of this captivating land. In the evenings you’ll relax in well-appointed accommodations that offer all the comforts of home.

Tour dynamic London and visit its most famous attractions such as Big Ben, The Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. Set out for the gloriously pretty English countryside and stroll the cobbled streets. You may have a spiritual experience touring mysterious Stonehenge, and a literary experience touring The Waggon and Horses Inn frequented by Charles Dickens. This trip will have you so immersed in all things English, you may start craving bangers and mash and afternoon tea! ... Show More »

Day 2: London

Today, you will board a coach for a full day Magic of London Tour. You will drive past some of London's most famous landmarks including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, before arriving at the Tower of London where you will be welcomed on the middle drawbridge by a Yeoman Warder. You will be led into this UNESCO World Heritage Site before it is opened to the public and taken on a professionally guided tour explaining the history behind this fortress of imprisonment. You will be the first group to see the Crown Jewels before enjoying some free time to explore on your own. Departing from the Tower, head to The Mall to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony. Please note, the Changing of the Guard does not occur every day. Alternatively, enjoy a photo stop at Buckingham Palace when the Guard ceremony is not running. Next, take a short ferry ride on the River Thames, enjoying excellent views of St. Paul's Cathedral and Shakespeare's Globe. You will then have free time for an independent lunch. There is also an opportunity for a photo stop at Westminster Abbey. The afternoon part of the tour begins with a visit to St. Paul's Cathedral. Explore the masterpiece designed by Wren in 1673 with a professional guide, taking the time to listen to the 1695 organ that Mendelssohn once played and visit the tombs of Nelson and Wellington. End the day with a drive across the river to the South Bank. Enjoy champagne afternoon tea in the luxurious surroundings of 1WB Lounge & Patisserie, at The Park Plaza Westminster Hotel.

Tonight, you will have the opportunity to dine at your leisure. There are some great restaurants in the West End of London. J Sheeky is an incredibly smart seafood restaurant, while Mildred's is London's best veggie restaurant. Sketch is the trendiest place in London and specializes in some of the best French food you will ever taste. For those looking for something simple and cheerful, enjoy a nice meal out at Zipangu. Alternatively, try the amazingly stylish Corrigan’s Mayfair.

Enjoy a half day private walking tour of Bath. Visit the Royal Crescent, the Circus and the Georgian streets of Bath. Stroll along the river and visit the Abbey to learn the history of the Roman Baths. The Royal Crescent is a residential road of 30 houses, laid out in a crescent and was built starting 1767 and completed seven years later in 1774.  It is often compared to the beautiful Versailles just outside of Paris due to its half colosseum shape. The Circus was finalized in 1768 and is an excellent example of Georgian architecture in the city of Bath. The name comes from the Latin word 'circus,' which means a ring, oval or circle. The Circus is a circular space divided into three segments of equal length surrounded by large townhouses. Each of the curved portions faces one of the three entrances, ensuring that whichever way a visitor enters there is a classical facade straight ahead.

Accommodation: Abbey Hotel (4*)

Situated in a classic Georgian building dating back to 1742, the 3-star Abbey Hotel, holds the perfect city center location, with Bath’s historic attractions and famous shopping streets only a short stroll away. Independently owned, this unique hotel boasts an intriguing blend of stylish, contemporary comfort and historic character. Recently upgraded throughout, the hotel boasts just about the most comfortable beds in the business, a true testament to a great night's sleep.

Day 5: Bath

Today, you will visit the Stonehenge and country villages. Meet your mini coach at the Best Western Abbey Hotel, a one minute walk from the Abbey Church, promptly at 8:30 AM. You will drive through the beautiful and scenic countryside to Stonehenge, a monument that has aroused awe and curiosity since the Norman Conquest. You will have the opportunity to stop at the Stonehenge for one hour so you can explore this ancient monument. The tour continues further along to the Avebury Stone Circles, which is a lesser known megalithic monument, but also nearly 1000 years older. This monument is left more untouched by other tourists, and you are free to take in the magical charm of these stones as you wish. You will then proceed through Silbury Hill, the largest human-made object in old Europe. Then, you will visit the Cherhill White Horse, which is nearly 300 years old. You will then see the Waggon and Horse, a traditional thatched inn, frequently visited by Charles Dickens. A visit to the Lacock National Trust Village will finish your tour. This pleasant village consists of properties which date from the 13th and 18th centuries. It was once a prosperous woolen town but now seems like a village trapped in time. We usually make a stop here as there is an excellent country pub offering good home cooked food and real ale! Harry Potter and Pride and Prejudice have filmed scenes here. You will return to Central Bath by about 4:30 PM.

Day 6: Bath - London

Just a short walk away from your central Bath hotel, the Roman Baths Museum awaits. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the ancient Roman Baths from the period when Rome controlled much of England. The baths are below the modern street level and have four main features including the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, the Roman bath house and finds from Roman Bath. However, the Georgian Pump Room is on the ground level.
The museum is open daily, and entrance fees are approximately 15GBP per adult and 9GBP per child (6-15yrs). Children 5 years and under are free of charge. The Roman Baths Museum is one of England's most famous attractions. Spend an hour here to appreciate the museum entirely. Back outside, at the end of Bath Street, stands the Cross Bath where Mary of Modena, wife of James II, erected a cross in gratitude for her pregnancy in 1688. Opposite to the Cross Bath is the hot bath, the third bath built over Bath's Hot Springs. These two historic sites have been restored, and together with the Hetling Pump room, are now part of the Thermae Bath Spa, a privately run and superbly designed complex where you can relax in the thermal waters of the roof-top spa pool.

Transfer using a local taxi. Please note that this is not included in trip price and is payable locally.

  • Joy L. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Private tours were the best. Enjoyed being able to stop and see sights big groups wouldn't be able to do.

  • Tilda B. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Our agent Enrique was phenomenal. He booked every aspect of our trip, from transportation, tour and hotel. All we had to do was show up. Best vacation!!

  • Gary C. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

My excellent experience with Kensington Tours started with Michelle Callaghan, a consultant for Ireland and UK, followed by a very friendly and knowledgeable person in KT Air, ending with our guide Paul Wilson who my whole family loved. I am lucky enough to have traveled internationally for both business and pleasure for decades, therefore I have to compare. The entire experience with Kensington, from start to finish, was a 10.

  • Elizabeth M. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

I love being able to call Kensington and tell their agents where I want to go and what I'd like to see when at my destination. All I do is pack my suitcase and from the moment my plane lands, I am taken care of and looked after. It turns a "trip" into a "vacation" as well. It's hassle free, first rate.

  • Margarette H. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

We enjoyed the trip immensely! All our tour guides did a good job. I'd like to especially call out Alexandra from Lisbon and Javier from Toledo as outstanding. Our primary drivers Jose in Lisbon and Muhammad in Morocco were also outstanding! Special appreciation for our Riad accommodations in Marrakech which was magical!

  • Noor K. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Very well organized tour . I will recommend it to every one who wants to travel. Excellent tour.

  • Rebecca K. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Jaclyn was the best!!! I have already referred her to a friend! She was quick responding and really listened to what we like! Definitely will use her again!

  • Razieh M. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Absolutely outstanding service. We loved it. Very professional staff and timely with schedules. It saved us a lot of time and we got to see a lot more than we would have done had we done this all by ourselves.

  • Ann P. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Great vacation. People in Iceland are wonderful, cordial, friendly.

  • Santanu D. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Your tours are not inexpensive but worth every penny of the extra cost. You do your homework and the guides are superb. Your service during the trip is personal and responsive. I have seen this in three continents.
