Welcome to the Duke of Cornwall (3*), Plymouth's original character hotel, a treasure in the heart of Devon's city-by-the sea. Tower and turret, ballroom, oak panels, elaborate ceiling roses, sea views and cityscape. All 72 rooms and suites have a unique view. Built during the Golden Age of steam, the Duke of Cornwall was Plymouth's first luxury hotel and provides first class accommodation today. It's the perfect embarkation point for a voyage into England's beautiful South West, not forgetting Plymouth's excellent Theatre Royal just around the corner. For dinner, there is a 2 RAC Blue Ribbons and AA Rosette award winning Restaurant.
The Duke of Cornwall Hotel (3*) is one of Plymouth's most famous landmarks and is just a stones throw from the city's historic Hoe and Barbican and stunning Art-Deco Lido. Set in the heart of Plymouth's theatre-land, the city's most convenient hotel for weekend entertainment breaks at the Pavilions and Theatre Royal. Or, if shopping is more your style we are just a short walk away from the city's major department stores and shops.
Guest Rooms are of a high standard, containing en-suite bathroom, trouser press, television with alarm clock, direct dial telephone, work desk space, free broadband internet access, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.
The Duke of Cornwall is famous for its grand design. The Victorian vogue for elegance and extravagant proportion has provided us with a breathtaking legacy.
The beautifully appointed dining room is an AA Rosette and RAC Blue Riband awarded restaurant.
The menu is influenced by Plymouth's fresh West-Country farm and game produce, catch-of-the day fish and proximity to the continent by sea.
Grand, but not grandiose, the dining room is illuminated by sparkling chandeliers and the atmospheric lounge is a warm and inviting area in which to enjoy aperitifs or morning coffee.
We have two stylish bars and an extensive wine and cocktail list to lift the spirits.
Breakfast is served from 7.00am until 9.30am Monday to Saturday and from 8.00am till 10.30pm on Sundays.
Sink back into your Chesterfield and relax. Take coffee or afternoon tea in the lounge, whilst we take your bags to your room. Or if the sun has passed over the yardarm in the true maritime tradition of the city-by-the-sea, enjoy a drink at the bar.
The lounge has space to allow you the privacy to gather your thoughts before exploring Plymouth, or to spend the rest of the evening in comfort before retiring after some excellent drinks and even a light snack.
