Vaasa is a city on the west coast of Finland. It received its charter in 1606 during the reign of Charles IX of Sweden and is named after the Royal House of Vasa. Vaasa is the sunniest city in Finland with 1900 sunny hours a year. There are 7 beaches within 3 kilometers of the market place. The city is an important centre for Finland-Swedish culture. Finland's newest museum of modern art, Kuntsi, is located in Vaasa.The Archipelago around Vaasa is the only nature world heritage in Finland.
