Located at the confluence of the Danube and Regen rivers, the medieval center of the city of Regensburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral, dating back to 1275, is an interesting example of pure German gothic architecture. There are various churches in the gothic and Romanesque styles as well as vestiges from medieval times (including the stone bridge which crossed the Danube).
