This tour gives an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that makes Athens such a fascinating city. The expert guides take you to see the centre of the city, Constitution Aquare (Syntagma), the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, and the National Library. Driving down Herod Atticus Street, you will see the Evzones in their pictureque uniform, and the Presidential Palace. On you way to the Acropolis, you will see the Hadrian's Arch, visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and then make a short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896. On the Acropolis, visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and finally the Partenon. You will complete the visit with the Museum of Acropolis.
In the afternoon, drive along the coastal road, past the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmenis, and Varkiza to the most Southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. On the way, you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you will have time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion. Includes transportation, guide, and entrance fees.
Over the next four days you will have a dedicated private driver and English speaking guide with you.
Today you will be leaving Athens and making your way to Olympia, the Cradle of the Olympic Games, in the company of your own private driver and English speaking guide. On the way, there will be a short stop on the Coastal Road to the Corinth Canal, the town of Nauplion, and Mycenae. You will have the chance to see the Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics, and the archeological site of the Tomb of Agamemnon.
This morning you will get to visit the archaeological site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, and the Archaeological Museum. Later you will drive through the plains of Eliad and Achaia to the magnificent bridge that crosses the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Before arriving in Delphi, you will pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos and Itea.
In the morning you will visit the archaeological site and the museum in Delphi. You'll then be transferred to Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of gigantic rocks.
Today you will get to visit Meteora. Among striking scenery, and perched on top of huge rocks that seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Monasteries where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine Art. On the return to Athens you will pass by picturesque towns such as Trikala, Lamia, and Thermopylae, where you will get to visit the Leonida's monument. Trikala is crowned by its Byzantine castle that dates back to Byzantine times. The town is divided into two by an old aqueduct. The churches of Agios Demetrios and Agii Anargyri complete the Byzantine flavour of the town. Lamia also has a castle that houses an archaeological museum. Thermopylae is the site of Leonida's monument, which you will get to visit before continuing toward Athens.

"Melissa Field was extremely helpful! She was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly! She kept me updated on the status of everything and provided timely correspondence. She took ownership for any problems I had and remedied them. I had the most amazing time of my life in Iceland and Paris! I would not have experienced everything without the help of Kensington Tours."

"All of our guides were beyond fabulous! Our time in Dublin was much too short, would have loved to stay there at least one more full day. Would recommend extending this package to 15 days for any future visits. The train to Edinburgh was super! Beautiful scenery and great steak pies!"

"Overall, our tour in Spain was very enjoyable, and well planned and executed. Our private tour of the Alhambra was excellent. Virginia, tour guide for royal palace ruins outside of Cordoba, was also excellent. In Seville, we went to the Flamenco Show/dinner, and the Flamenco was outstanding!"

"My husband and I took a 3 week vacation to southern Europe and North Africa and had a great time. All the guides were very knowledgeable and bent over backwards to accommodate us. The arrangements made by Kensington went off without a hitch. This is our second trip with Kensington (we went to Peru in 2009) and we will certainly book with them again."

"Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "

"We just returned from a 10 day trip to Paris and Normandy. We spent three nights in Paris and then enjoyed a seven night cruise on the Seine to Normandy with AMA Waterways. The time in Paris was well spent and has piqued our interest to return for a more thorough visit. Guide Wafaa Lankey was superb in our visit to Versailles. The Seine cruise was relaxing and beautiful. So many wonderful little towns and we wished we had more time in each one to explore and enjoy.
We traveled to Croatia and Slovenia using Kensington earlier this year which was a fantastic trip."
