Today you will be leaving Athens for Delphi via Thebes, a city known for its acres of cotton fields in the modern days. The Greek myths say that the powerful hero Hercules, son of Zeus, was born here. Continuing along, you will pass through Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. This town is extremely beautiful and traditional, filled with stunning views, quaint houses, and small cobblestone streets. Once you arrive in Delphi you will get to visit the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, home to the famous Oracle of Delphi. This mountain sanctuary was the holiest site in Ancient Greece. It was believed to be the centre of the world, marked by the sacred Omphalos stone. You will also visit the museum, which displays some of the finest works of art in Greece as it chronicles the history and importance of Delphi from the 15th century BC to the 4th century AD.
This afternoon you will be leaving Delphi and driving through Central Greece through the town of Lamia and eventually arriving in Kalambaka. Lamai has a large castle dating from the early Middle Ages that serves as an archeological museum and has an interesting collection of classical and Hellenistic artifacts.

"Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Our time in Dubrovnik and Split were awesome, in hind sight we both wished we would have went back to Split from Plitvice Lakes rather than carry on to Zagreb. We both found Split much more appealing and would have definitely preferred to spend another night there rather than Zagreb. We’ll know for next time! Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "
