This small group multi-day tour has it all, but even its busy schedule allows ample scope to embrace the back roads and add a few adventures of your own. With a maximum group size of 18, you will benefit from the customized services of a knowledgeable tour leader , shared guided tours at places of interest along the way and travel in style in a mini-coach.
Small group tours typically depart every second Wednesday (with a few exceptions) from May 7, 2014 - September 24, 2014 and are guaranteed with a minimum of 4 participants. In general, the maximum group size is 18.
Consider adding additional days to your trip with the services of a private guide and/or driver to see more of the country - your time on either side of your small group tour can be customized to suit your needs (and private guided tours can be added throughout your small group experience as desired.
A transfer between the airport and the city or your hotel with a private vehicle and driver is provided.
A welcome package with your vouchers, a city map, ferry tickets (if relevant) and any other touristic information that you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.

The Electra Palace Hotel (5*) in Athens is a five star property centrally located in the heart of Athens and the old town of Plaka. It is within walking distance of the Acropolis, all major historical sites and the business and commercial districts. The hotel has gone recent renovations and its 102 rooms are now completely refurbished with ultra-modern ammenities. Guest can dine at the "Motivo" restaurant, the "Electra" Roof garden restaurant, and the traditional English style "Duck-Tail" bar with its beautiful garden. The Electra Palace Hotel (5*)also hosts a wellness area, an outdoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi and pool bar, an underground parking and a business centre.
Enjoy a day cruise to Saronic Gulf Island. Leave Athens early in the morning by bus to Piraeus Port. Sail to Hydra where you have free time to explore or take a refreshing swim in the beautiful, blue sea! Next, sail for Aegina passing through Poros and the seashore of the infamous Peloponnese. Arrive at Aegina for further exploration or another optional swim. Choose if you wish to visit the beautifully preserved Temple of Afea Athena.
This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides take you to the city centre to see Constitution Square, the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, and the National Library. Driving down Herod Atticus Street, you will see the Evzones in their picturesque uniform and the Presidential Palace. On your way to the Acropolis you will see Hadrian's Arch, visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and have a short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896. On the Acropolis you will visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens, the Propylaea , the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and finally the monument that 'puts order in mind', the Parthenon.
Meet up with your Guide and fellow travellers of your small group tour this afternoon. The rendezvous is at 2.00pm at the Electra Palace Hotel, 18-20 N Nikodimou St, Athens 10557, Greece.

After you meet your fellow travellers you will depart for Cape Sounion. En route you will stop for some wine tasting at Domaine Vassiliou, which has been producing quality wines since 1905. On arrival in Cape Sounion you will visit the 5th century BC Temple of Poseidon, one of the most important sanctuaries in Attica. Tonight dine in a local seaside tavern, as the sun goes down. After dinner, you will return to your hotel in Athens.

Crossing the Corinth Canal, you will visit Mycenae, considered to be one of the best archaeological sites in the country. Here you will see the Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus, the Lion Gate and the remains of Agamemnon’s Royal Palace. At a local winery enjoy a tasting of the famous Agiorgitiko red wine before arriving in Nafplion. With its neoclassical buildings, middle age fountains and labyrinthine streets, this colourful town is wonderful to explore.

Today is dedicated to Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and known for the gigantic gold statue of Zeus that used to stand in the Temple of Zeus. Sculpted by Pheidias, it was named one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World until its destruction in the 5th century. During your visit you will see the temples dedicated to Zeus and Hera, the first Olympic Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Back in Nafplion, enjoy an evening at leisure.
Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Delphi, visiting the Temple of Apollo, the Treasure of the Athenians and the Museum, which is home to an impressive collection of Ancient Greek sculptures. Later you will drive to Amfikaia Farm, set on 200 acres of land with beautifully tended gardens. After a tour of the farm to see the infamous Thessalian Horses and a botany presentation, you will enjoy a traditional homemade lunch using the finest local ingredients.

Apollonia Hotel is situated in central Delphi, a five minute walk from European Cultural Centre of Delphi and The Angelos and Eva Sikelianos Museum. Your drive this morning takes you across the Thessalian plains to Kalambaka. Here you will visit two of the monasteries of Meteora. Lived in by monks for more than 600 years, the monasteries are decorated with unique icons and other items of Byzantine Art and were designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. Your final destination today is Aspropotamos, an area of incredible natural beauty, away from the main tourist route. This evening, after a short Greek cooking demonstration, you will sit down together for dinner.
In the mountains of Aspropotamos, Pyrgos Mantania, a medley of restored stone buildings, has been lovingly decorated and furnished using traditional, regional techniques: painters and restorers have worked on the walls and wooden ceilings and much of the decor is handmade and unique. This morning you will explore the Aspropotamos region and visit the 18th century Monastery of the Holy Cross at Doliana.
This afternoon you will drive to Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. Tonight you will dine in the historic quarter of Ladadika, with its narrow streets and characteristic coloured houses.

Your journey today takes you south along the coastal district of Thessaly to Volos, which has a rich history with strong roots in Greek Mythology. After a panoramic tour of Volos you will explore Mount Pelion. With a backdrop of olive groves, dense forests and lush fruit orchards, the 24 villages in the peninsula, with their traditional stone-built houses and bridges and Byzantine Churches and Monasteries, are the true gems of this region.
At the foot of Mt Pelion, in the cove of Pagasitikos Gulf Domotel Xenia Volou hotel in Volos has created in the last years its own…myth providing hospitality services for a… divine accommodation. With absolute respect to the cultural heritage of “Xenia” buildings that had been some of the most brilliant examples of Greek architecture in the 20th century, the hotel build in the 60’s is characteristic of the postwar modernism in Volos. "People do not know what they are missing by not going to Romania. The landscape: beautiful, clean, untouched. The people: People exceeded friendly! Super safe. Wherever we went, we received the reception of "Welcome, welcome! You are our guest", by everyone. Food & Drink: Everything had such incredible flavor! They use only the freshest ingredients and everything is organic. Every meal was a new, exciting experience to our palettes. Architecture: The beauty, intricacy, history. "Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Our time in Dubrovnik and Split were awesome, in hind sight we both wished we would have went back to Split from Plitvice Lakes rather than carry on to Zagreb. We both found Split much more appealing and would have definitely preferred to spend another night there rather than Zagreb. We’ll know for next time! Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "
